Covergirl (Groove Coverage Album)
''Covergirl'' is the first album of the German Eurodance group Groove Coverage, released in 2002. It features the 2 singles "Moonlight Shadow" and "God is a Girl" in both radio edit and ballad form. The Radio Edit of "God is a Girl" is a hidden track at the end of the album. The album features a few ballads and dance tracks. Both Melanie Munch and Verena Rehm provide vocals together for most songs, with the exceptions of "Lullaby for love" which is a Verena solo, and "Moonlight Shadow" which is a Mell solo with Verena providing the piano in the piano version. "Are You Ready" and "The Beat Just Goes'" are club tracks, neither of which Mell or Verena provide vocals for. " Million Tears", while not released as a single at the time, became a sleeper hit particularly popular in Singapore, where it became associated with the outlawed Salakau secret society. Groove Coverage
Groove Coverage is a German dance band which consists of Axel Konrad, DJ Novus, Melanie Munch, better known as Mell (lead singer), and Verena Rehm (former stage performer, backing singer, occasional lead singer). Producers of the band are Ole Wierk and Axel Konrad. The project was founded in the summer of 2001 by DJ Novus, in co-operation with Suprime Music (Konrad). With eleven singles in the German Top 50 and over 13 million records sold worldwide, Groove Coverage is one of the most successful German dance artists. "Moonlight Shadow" is a song written and performed by English multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield, released as a single in May 1983 by Virgin Records, and included on his eighth album, ''Crises'', of the same year. The vocals were performed by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly, who had collaborated with Mike Oldfield since 1980. Verena Rehm
Verena Carmen Rehm (born 14 May 1984) is a German musician best known as the backing vocalist and pianist of the Eurodance dance group Groove Coverage. She has many song writing credits both within and outside the group and also sings for many other German dance acts. Early life After attending kindergarten, Rehm discovered her passion for music. In her autobiography on the Suprime Records website, she states that her interest began with her father's old piano, which led Verena to begin piano lessons. At 14, she joined the cover band Querbeet. She spent 4 years with them as their lead singer, also playing the keyboard. It was released again in 2015 as a standalone EP featuring five new versions. According to singer Melanie Munch, the song, which was written in only three days, tells about the heartache of losing your first love. In Singapore, the song has become closely associated with the Salakau (369) Secret societies in Singapore, secret society, with members frequently singing a notorious gang chant cued to the rhythm of the song during the instrumental break that follows the line "Whoa oh whoa ohh, a million tears for you". Gang membership is a criminal offense in Singapore, and police have previously investigated gang chants shouted during concerts.
