Corey Deuel
Corey Deuel (born November 20, 1977 in Santa Barbara, California) is an American professional pool player from West Jefferson, Ohio. Nicknamed "Prince of Pool", he won the US Open Nine-ball Championship in 2001, and has won many other major titles. In January 2008, he was ranked the second highest US pool player by the United States Professional Poolplayers Association. He regularly represents the US in the Mosconi Cup. In 2010, he again was selected for the US team in the Mosconi Cup and was responsible for winnin2 of the US team's 8points in the event. His tournament walk-on music is “Disco Inferno” by The Trammps. In 2013, he made a successful crossover to snooker by capturing the United States National Snooker Championship title in Houston, Texas, and went on to represent the United States in the 2013 IBSF World Snooker Championship. Q School (snooker)
The Q School is an amateur snooker competition which serves as the qualification process for the World Snooker Tour. Overview The Q School was established in an attempt to streamline the qualification process for the World Snooker Tour. A series of play-offs are run every year before the season. Players pay a fixed entry fee to enter the play-off events, and there is no prize money. Each player who wins a quarter-final game qualifies for a two-year tour card on the Main Tour. All Japan Championship (pool)
The All Japan Championship (also: ''Japan Championship'') is an annual international pool tournament founded by Kazuo Fujima in 1967, when there was an all-around completion with multiple disciplines. In the Men's tournament the current discipline is Ten-ball, however for the Women's tournament it is played in the discipline of Nine-ball. The All Japan Championship is currently sanctioned by the JPBA (Japan Professional Pocket Billiard Association). The first 20 years only held men's competitions. It was not until the 21st competition in 1988 that the Women's event was established. Most of the competition period is after the middle of November each year. This is the most famous international large-scale pool event held in Japan, and one of the oldest tournaments in pool. Takeshi Okumura has won the men's tournament the most times, sixteen. The 2009 Mosconi Cup, the 16th edition of the annual nine-ball pool competition between teams representing Europe and the United States, took place 10–13 December 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Team USA won the Mosconi Cup by defeating Team Europe 11–7. Format The format was broadly similar to that used in past years. International Pool Tour
The International Pool Tour was a professional sports tour created in 2005 by Kevin Trudeau and hosted by Rebecca Grant. It aimed to elevate pool to the level of other modern sports. Closely modeled on the PGA Tour, the IPT offered the largest prize funds in pool history in its first year. The tour attracted the top pool players in the world. It differed from the many nine-ball tournaments, as all IPT events were eight-ball matches. The company was based in Hinsdale, Illinois. Many pool enthusiasts were initially skeptical, but the first event was successful, and at the time was the biggest tournament in billiards history. Q-School 2015/16 - Event 1
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. Zhou Yuelong (; born 24 January 1998) is a Chinese professional snooker player. He has been runner-up at three ranking events, the January 2020 European Masters, the 2020 Snooker Shoot Out, and the 2022 Northern Ireland Open. Career Between 2011 and 2014, Zhou was regularly selected to play in the wildcard round of Chinese ranking events. He could only win two of the nine he played in and was knocked out in the first round in both of those.
