Copper Coast Council
The Copper Coast Council is a local government area in the Australian state of South Australia located at the northern end of the Yorke Peninsula. It was established in 1997 and its seat is in Kadina. Description The Copper Coast Council is located at the northern end of Yorke Peninsula adjoining the coastline with Spencer Gulf between the settlement in Tickera in the north and the northern boundary of Nalyappa in the south. The council seat is located at Kadina where its head office is located, while it maintains sub-offices at Moonta and Wallaroo. It covers an area of about of which 97.5% is used for agricultural purposes and with the remaining 2.5% (i.e. ) being associated with three urban areas centred on the former government towns of Kadina, Moonta and Wallaroo. East Moonta is a rural locality at the northern end of the Yorke Peninsula and a satellite village to the town of Moonta. It is located in the Copper Coast Council. Description The modern locality was established when the name and boundaries were selected in January 1999. Boors Plain, South Australia
Boors Plain (historically Boors Plains) is a rural locality at the north end of the Yorke Peninsula of South Australia, situated east of Moonta and south of Kadina. It is located in the Copper Coast Council. Description The name and boundaries of the modern locality were formalised in January 1999. It is named after James Boor, a shepherd working for Sir Walter Hughes; Boor made the copper discovery that became Wallaroo Mines. Land within the locality is zoned for “agricultural production and the grazing of stock on relatively large holdings". History A small village previously existed on the Kadina-Cunliffe Road. Paskeville, South Australia
Paskeville is a town on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. It is located approximately 20 km east of Kadina on the Copper Coast Highway towards Adelaide. At the , Paskeville had a population of 178. The town's district is administratively divided between the Copper Coast Council and the District Council of Barunga West. Kadina ( ) is a town on the Yorke Peninsula of the Australian state of South Australia, approximately 144 kilometres north-northwest of the state capital of Adelaide. The largest town of the Peninsula, Kadina is one of the three Copper Triangle towns famous for their shared copper mining history. The three towns are known as "Little Cornwall" for the significant number of immigrants from Cornwall who worked at the mines in the late 19th century. Matta Flat is a suburb of the town of Kadina on the Yorke Peninsula. It is located in the Copper Coast Council. The boundaries were formally gazetted in January 1999, although the name had long been in use for the area. History It was the location of the Matta Matta Mine, which operated from 1860 until 1870. In the 1860s, the mining company built an "elaborate underground drain" to remove mine seepage water from the low-lying Matta Flat area.
