Lessay
Lessay () is a commune in the Manche department in north-western France. On 1 January 2016, the former commune of Angoville-sur-Ay was merged into Lessay. Geography Lessay is a small town in the centre of the Cotentin Peninsula, Normandy. History It was founded as a monastery but a town grew up around it over the years. The 10th-century Lessay Abbey is one of the greatest examples of Romanesque architecture in Normandy. It was largely destroyed by fighting in the town during July–August 1944, but has been rebuilt. Astra is the brand name for a number of geostationary satellite, geostationary communication satellites, both individually and as a group, which are owned and operated by SES S.A., a global satellite operator based in Betzdorf, Luxembourg, Betzdorf, in eastern Luxembourg. Heart Hampshire (formerly Ocean FM and Ocean Sound) was a British independent local radio station serving South Hampshire, West Sussex and Isle of Wight primarily for Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester and Chichester. The station served an area of England with a high proportion of commuters to London and a higher-than-average disposable income from middle-class families and people over 45. Its target age range was 25–45. Independent Local Radio is the collective name given to commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom. As a result of the buyouts and mergers permitted by the Broadcasting Act 1990, and deregulation resulting from the Communications Act 2003, most commercial stations are now neither independent (although they remain independent from the BBC) nor local. Steve Satan
Steve Satan started his career as head of rock on the pirate radio station Radio Caroline, using the pseudonyms Andy Bradgate and Colin Mueslibar. He went on to work for Contact 94 in France, Sunshine Radio in Luxemburg and Merlin Network One. He is currently head of Radio WOMAD. Alex Dyke
Alex Dyke (born 19 February 1962) is an English broadcaster and radio presenter on BBC Radio Solent. Career 1970s Dyke started life as a DJ at Shanklin Youth Club in January 1975 at the age of 12. At 16, Dyke had managed to gain work at several night clubs on the Isle of Wight even though he was legally under-aged. 1980s By the early 1980s, Dyke was working at youth clubs in the South with some of the top chart stars of the day. He presented showbiz interviews at Portsmouth's local commercial radio station Radio Victory before joining BBC Radio Solent in early 1984 to help out on their youth show ''Something Else''. Alfasound was a radio jingle production company based in Manchester from late 1970s to mid-1990s founded by Alan Fawkes and ex-Piccadilly Radio DJ Steve England. Alfasound was responsible for some of the most memorable radio jingles in the 80s and 90s, including Piccadilly, the very first jingle set for 96.4 Sound Wave in Swansea. It produced over 10 jingle packages for Radio Trent in Nottingham from 1980 until the station was taken over by GWR Group (later GCap) and re-branded as 96 Trent FM (Now Capital Midlands). Alfasound also served smaller clients, such as short term stations. In April 1994 a modest package was recorded for Victory FM who became the full-time broadcasters to Greater Portsmouth 1999, with more jingles from Manchester. The Gibraltar Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) is Gibraltar's public service broadcaster. It has provided the community with a radio and television service since 1963. Manx Radio
Manx Radio (legally Radio Manx Ltd.) ( gv, Radio Vannin) is the national commercial radio station for the Isle of Man. It began broadcasting on 29 June 1964, almost ten years before commercial radio was licensed in the United Kingdom. The Isle of Man, having its own government and laws, was not subject to the rules prohibiting commercial broadcasting in the UK. However, the Manx Government still had to apply to the UK's General Post Office for a frequency and for permission to broadcast. First requested in 1960, a licence was eventually granted in May 1964. It was allocated an FM frequency of 89.0 MHz and a comparatively low power of 50 watts. In October 1964, an additional frequency of 1594 kHz AM was allocated to the station to provide greater coverage, although again at a limited power of 50 watts.
