Affieux
Affieux (; oc, Afièu) is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Affieucois'' or ''Affieucoises''. The commune has been awarded two flowers by the ''National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom'' in the ''Competition of cities and villages in Bloom''. Geography Affieux is located some 45 km south-east of Limoges (in a straight line). Access to the commune is by road D940 from Treignac in the north passing south through the east of the commune to Le Lonzac. The D20 road also comes from Treignac, changing to the D3E3 in the commune and passing through the village before continuing south-west to join the D3 south-west of the commune. The Vézère river forms the western and northern border of the commune with numerous streams criss-crossing the commune and flowing to this river. Auriac, Corrèze
Auriac () is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Auriacois'' or ''Auriacoises''. Geography Auriac is located in the Massif Central on the left bank of the Dordogne some 50 km east of Brive-la-Gaillarde and 30 km south by south-east of Égletons. The D13 road from Bassignac-le-Haut to Saint-Merd-de-Lapleau passes through the north-western corner of the commune. The D65 branches off the D13 in the commune and goes south-east to the village then continues south-east to join the D145 just west of Rilhac-Xaintrie. The D111 branches from the D65 south of the village and goes to Saint-Julien-aux-Bois in the south. The D72 branches from the D111 in the south of the commune and goes north-west to Bassignac-le-Haut with the D75 branching off it in the commune and going to Servières-le-Château in the south-west. Aubazines
Aubazines (; oc, Obasina), also spelled ''Aubazine'', is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Aubazinois'' or ''Aubazinoises''. Geography Aubazines is a commune in the Massif Central located some 10 km east by north-east of Brive-la-Gaillarde and 12 km south-west of Tulle. The D1089 highway passes through the north-west of the commune going from Malemort-sur-Corrèze to Tulle. However, access to the village is by the D130 branching off the D1089, going south to the village, and continuing south to Beynat. The D48 also goes east from the village to Le Chastang with the D48E branching off it in the east of the commune to go north to Cornil. The D14E1 also goes south-west from the village to join the D14. Astaillac
Astaillac (; oc, Astalhac) is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Astaillacois'' or ''Astaillacoises''. Toponymy There are two possibilities for the origin of the commune's name and both originate as a person's name who owned the area. As a Gallo-Roman domain of ''Astilus'' a Latin name and ''-iacum'', the possession of ''Astilusiacum''. Another theory is that it originates as ''Stalliacus'', the domain of ''Stallius'' in the ''vicaria'' of Ascanensi (Puy-d'Arnac). The village name changed over the centuries, Astaliaco (860), Staliacus (882), Astilico (917), Astiliaco (10th), Astalhac (1315), and Estailhat (1687). History In 860, Rodolphe of Turenne, Archbishop of Bourges, donated Astaillac, its church and lands to the monastery he founded at Beaulieu sur Dordogne. Arnac-Pompadour
Arnac-Pompadour (; oc, Arnac e Pompador) is a Communes of France, commune in the Corrèze Departments of France, department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Pompadours'' in French. In Nouvelle-Aquitaine and on directional signs, the commune is usually simply called Pompadour, although the actual village of Pompadour is shared between Arnac-Pompadour and Saint-Sornin-Lavolps. The name of Pompadour became world-famous due to the favourite of Louis XV, Madame de Pompadour (Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson), to whom the king gave the chateau of Pompadour and the associated title of Marquise. The town is famous for its chateau and its stud farm, the Pompadour National Anglo-Arab Stud, headquarters of the French National Stud and France's principal production centre of Anglo-Arabian horses (although the racecourse is actually outside the commune). Les Angles-sur-Corrèze
Les Angles-sur-Corrèze (; oc, Los Angles) is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. Geography Les Angles-sur-Corrèze is located some 7 km north-west of Tulle and 30 km south-west of Égletons. It is traversed by the A89 autoroute from west to east through the heart of the commune but there is no exit in the commune. The nearest exits are Exit 20 to the west of the commune and Exit 21 to the east. Access to the commune is by road D58 which branches off the D23 south of the commune and continues north to the village and continues north then east to join the D1089 highway which forms the south-eastern border of the commune. Ambrugeat
Ambrugeat (; oc, Ambrujac) is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Ambrugeacois'' or ''Ambrugeacoises'' Geography Ambrugeat is located some 80 km south-east of Limoges and immediately to the west of Meymac. It can be accessed by the D76 road from Meymac which continues through the village then south-west to join the D16 north of Égletons. There is also the D123 minor road running north off the D76 passing through the western part of the commune. The D76E also runs off the D76 to the south-east to join the D36 road. The commune is largely forested with some farmland. The village lies on the north-western shore of the ''Lac de Sechemaille'' whose shores form the eastern border at this point. Altillac (; oc, Altilhac) is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Altillacois'' or ''Altillacoises''. Alleyrat (; oc, Alairac) is a commune in the Corrèze department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Alleyratois'' or ''Alleyratoises'' Geography Alleyrat is located 8 km north-east of Meymac, 11 km north-west of Ussel, and 13 km south of Sornac. Access to the commune is by the D102 road which runs off the D30 west of the commune and passes south-east through the village to join the D57 road in the east. The D57 also passes through the commune in the south from east to west where it joins the D30 just north of Meymac. Apart from the village there are a number of hamlets. These are: Enclisse, Ceppe, Le Soulier, Roumignac, and La Chassagne. The commune is about equally split between forest and farmland.
