Commanding General, United States Army Pacific
The Commanding General of United States Army Pacific (CG USARPAC or CG, USARPAC) is the commander of United States Army Pacific, the army service component command of United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). As CG USARPAC, the officeholder is responsible for United States Army forces stationed within INDOPACOM's area of operations, including Hawaii, South Korea and Japan. United States Army Alaska was initially under CG USARPAC's authority until it was transferred to United States Northern Command. The current Commanding General, United States Army Pacific is General Charles A. Flynn, who succeeded General Paul LaCamera in a change of command ceremony on June 3, 2021. He is the 37th commanding general since the formation of USARPAC as a regional command, the 13th since the creation of its current iteration, and the 9th since its designation as a service component command in 2000. In the United States military, a general is the most senior general-grade officer; it is the highest achievable commissioned officer rank (or echelon) that may be attained in the United States Armed Forces, with exception of the Navy and Coast Guard, which have the equivalent rank of admiral instead. The official and formal insignia of "general" is defined by its four stars (commonly silver and in a row). The rank of general ranks above a three-star lieutenant general and below the special wartime five-star ranks of General of the Army or General of the Air Force. The Marine Corps and Space Force do not have an established grade above general. The pay grade of general is O-10. John Philip Wisser
John Philip Wisser (July 19, 1852 – January 20, 1927) was a brigadier general in the United States Army. Biography He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Central High School of St. Louis in 1870. In 1874, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. Receiving an assignment to the 1st Artillery, he served on garrison duty in Florida and Massachusetts until May 1876, when he was ordered to the U. S. Artillery School at Fort Monroe. After 1878, he was connected almost continuously with the academic staff of instructors at the U. S. Military Academy, chiefly in the department of chemistry, mineralogy, and geology. William Harding Carter
William Giles Harding Carter (November 19, 1851 – May 24, 1925) was a US Cavalry officer who served during the American Civil War, Spanish–American War and World War I. He also took part in the Indian Wars seeing extensive service against the Apache and Comanche in Arizona being awarded the Medal of Honor against the Apache during the Comanche Campaign on August 30, 1881. A strong advocate of reform in the United States Army during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Carter and Secretary of War Elihu Root are credited with the creation of the U.S. Army War College and helped pass the General Staff Act of 1903 through the United States Congress, replacing the office of commanding general with a chief of staff and a more efficient reorganization of military staff structure. Frederick Funston (November 9, 1865 – February 19, 1917), also known as Fighting Fred Funston, was a general in the United States Army, best known for his roles in the Spanish–American War and the Philippine–American War.
