Colleen Pinkney
Colleen Pinkney (born Colleen Marshall) is a Canadian curler from Truro, Nova Scotia. She is a 2009 and 2013 Canadian Senior champion skip and a two-time provincial senior champion. She won the World Senior Curling Championships in 2010. Career In 1988, Pinkney played in her first Tournament of Hearts, playing second for Judy Burgess. The team finished 3–8. In 2003, she made her second Hearts, playing third for Nancy McConnery. That team finished with a 5–6 record. She was also the alternate for Nancy McConnery in the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Pinkney won the 2009 Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Summerside by defeating British Columbia's Kathy Smiley in the final. She went on to represent Canada at the 2010 World Senior Curling Championships where her rink won Gold over Switzerland to take home Canada's 6th World Senior Curling Championship title. Truro, Nova Scotia
Truro (Mi'kmaq: ''Wagobagitik''; Scottish Gaelic: ''Truru'') is a town in central Nova Scotia, Canada. Truro is the shire town of Colchester County and is located on the south side of the Salmon River floodplain, close to the river's mouth at the eastern end of Cobequid Bay. History The area has been home to the Mi'kmaq people for several centuries. The Mi'kmaq name for the Truro area, "Wagobagitik" means "end of the water's flow". Mi'kmaq people continue to live in the area at the Millbrook and Truro reserves of the Millbrook – We’kopekwitk band. Acadian settlers came to this area in the early 1700s. The Mi'kmaq name for the Truro area was shortened by the settlers to "Cobequid", and the bay to the west of the town is still named Cobequid Bay. Nancy McConnery
Nancy McConnery (born Nancy Horne on February 26, 1963) is a Canadian curler from Blockhouse, Nova Scotia. She currently skips her own team out of the Windsor Curling Club in Windsor, Nova Scotia. McConnery has represented both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Her first Scott appearance was in 1993 representing New Brunswick. McConnery skipped her team which included Sandy Comeau. They would finish 2-9 in round robin play. She would once again return to the Scott in 1995 this time playing second for Heidi Hanlon, and would finish 4-7 in round robin play. McConnery’s next appearance would be in 2003 where she skipped her own team, this time representing Nova Scotia. She would finish round robin play 5-6, her best showing at the Tournament of Hearts to date.
