"Coexist" (stylised in all caps) is a song by Japanese rock music, rock band Coldrain. It is the second lead single for their sixth studio album ''The Side Effects (album), The Side Effects'', produced by Michael Baskette, written by Masato Hayakawa and Ryo Yokochi, and was released on 4 July 2019. Coexist would later be critically acclaimed to be one of the "''100 Greatest Songs of 2019''", featured alongside artists and bands such as James Blunt, Jason Derulo, Bruno Mars, Slipknot (band), Slipknot, Trivium (band), Trivium and Korn, as well as being one of the "''100 Greatest Metal''" songs of all time. Coldrain
are a Japanese Rock music, rock band from Nagoya, Japan, who were formed in 2007. The band combines melodic singing with screams typical of the post-hardcore genre. Although the band is Japanese, all of their songs are written in English. The lineup consists of lead vocalist Masato Hayakawa, guitarists Ryo Yokochi (Y.K.C.) and Kazuya Sugiyama (Sugi), bassist Ryo Shimizu (RxYxO) and drummer Katsuma Minatani. Hayakawa has a Japanese father and an American mother and speaks both Japanese and English fluently. The band's first two albums, ''Final Destination (album), Final Destination'' and ''The Enemy Inside (Coldrain album), The Enemy Inside'', were both released exclusively in their home country of Japan.
