Breaking Pangaea was an American emo pop band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The band gained a small but passionate following from early 2000 to 2003, especially among college students. The band released their debut EP and full length album on Florida's Undecided Records and released a follow up EP on Equal Vision Records. History The band was started by an 18-year-old Will Noon, who met Fred Mascherino at a concert of Mascherino's former band Brody. Noon and Mascherino decided to form a band, and when Mascherino brought in bassist Clint Stelfox the trio set to work. They played their first concert in January 2000, opening for The Movielife and Silent Majority. They then set out to create their first EP, entitled ''Take Apart the Words'', in September 2000. Undecided Records later decided they wanted to distribute the EP, which the band toured on for a year on three self-booked tours. Coheed and Cambria are an American progressive rock band from Nyack, New York, formed in 1995. Shaun Cooper (musician)
Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Long Island, New York. The band was formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey in 1999. The band's members currently are Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), John Nolan (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals), Shaun Cooper (bass guitar) and Mark O'Connell (drums), accompanied by Nathan Cogan (guitar) for their live performances. The band's former members include Lacey, Reyes, bass guitarist Matthew Rubano, and guitarist and vocalist Fred Mascherino. Lacey quit Taking Back Sunday in 1999 and formed the critically acclaimed rock band Brand New in 2000, with whom Taking Back Sunday would become embroiled in a highly publicized feud. John Nolan (musician)
John Thomas Nolan (born February 24, 1978) is an American musician best known as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of Taking Back Sunday, and the former lead singer, pianist, and guitarist of Straylight Run. Nolan left Taking Back Sunday in 2003 along with bassist Shaun Cooper, with whom he formed Straylight Run. During March 2010, he and Cooper rejoined Taking Back Sunday, reforming the ''Tell All Your Friends''-era lineup. Nolan is also a solo artist and has recorded an album called ''Height'' and "Live at Looney Tunes." Brand New was an American rock band from Long Island, New York. Formed in 2000, the band consisted of Jesse Lacey (vocals, guitar), Vincent Accardi (guitar, vocals), Garrett Tierney (bass guitar, vocals) and Brian Lane (drums, percussion); they were joined by Benjamin Homola (percussion) for their live performances. Northstar is an American band formed in 1997 in Huntsville, Alabama. History Early years and debut album (1997–2003) Since the band's inception, they have had around five guitarists and three different bassists, have been a three-piece, four-piece, and a five-piece. Due to a lack of a dedicated music scene in the Huntsville area, the band decided to start touring the country in 2000. They booked their first tour, bought a van, and set out on the road. After two years of booking, promoting, and producing everything themselves, the band signed a deal with Triple Crown Records of New York City in June 2002. This Day Forward was a Philadelphia-area band active from 1996 to 2003 whose style varied from metalcore to post-hardcore with indie rock influences. History The band was formed in 1997 in the Philadelphia suburbs by brothers Mike and Gary Shaw on vocals and bass, respectively, along with Randy Wehrs and Mike Golen on guitars and Colin Frangicetto on drums. Brazil was a post-hardcore and progressive rock band from Indiana, USA. Band history The band was formed as ''London'' in the summer of 2000 by the brothers Jonathon and Nicholas Newby. In early 2001 the band renamed themselves Brazil, taken from the Terry Gilliam film ''Brazil''. In 2002 the band signed a small contract with Fearless Records who released the ''Dasein'' EP. In 2004 they released their debut album ''A Hostage and the Meaning of Life'', also released by Fearless Records.
