The City University of Seattle, also known as Vysoká škola manažmentu (VŠM), is located in the Slovak capital, Bratislava, and the cities of Trenčín and Poprad. In 1991, City University of Seattle began its degree programs in former Czechoslovakia. VŠM was founded on December 1, 1999 as the first private college in Slovakia. In 2007, City University added 'of Seattle' to its official title as part of a rebranding effort. Trenčín
Trenčín (, also known by other alternative names) is a city in western Slovakia of the central Váh River valley near the Czech border, around from Bratislava. Poprad
Poprad (; hu, Poprád; german: Deutschendorf) is a city in northern Slovakia at the foot of the High Tatra Mountains, famous for its picturesque historic centre and as a holiday resort. Education In Slovakia
Education in Slovakia consists of a free education system based on 10 years of compulsory school attendance. General characteristics Most schools, especially universities, are owned by the state, though since the 1990s there are also church-owned and private schools (see Statistics section). Slovakia has 10 years of compulsory education. Students go to school five days a week, from Monday until Friday. Saturdays as school days were cancelled before the 1980s. Summer break is from the 1st of July until the end of August (at universities also in June). Other breaks occur a week around Christmas and Easter, in spring, and on official holidays. A school year consists of two semesters. The first one ends at the end of January in all schools, the second one before the beginning of the summer holidays (see above).
