Citizens (band)
Citizens, formerly known as Citizens & Saints, are an American Christian rock band from Seattle, Washington. Background Citizens & Saints were formerly based at Mars Hill Church, which was one of their record labels. Zach Bolen leads the band. Bolen resigned from Mars Hill in 2014, where he served as elder and worship leader. Their album, ''Citizens,'' has seen critical and commercial success since its 2013 release. After changing their name, the band released their second studio album, '' Join the Triumph'', in November 2014. This album incorporated more electronic sounds and synthesizers can be heard on several of the tracks. The album is still in keeping with their fundamental indie/alternative rock sound. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Mars Hill Church was a Christian megachurch, founded in 1996 by Mark Driscoll, Lief Moi, and Mike Gunn. It was a multi-site church based in Seattle, Washington and grew from a home Bible study to 15 locations in 4 U.S. states. in addition to services offered at its 15 locations; the church also podcast content of weekend services, and of conferences, on the Internet with more than 260,000 sermon views online every week.
