Cirkusrevyen
Cirkusrevyen is the biggest revue in Denmark located in Dyrehavsbakken north of Copenhagen. It was founded in 1935 by restaurateur Carl Pehrsson, actors Osvald Helmuth, Oscar Holst and the musician Herman Gellin The young Aage Stentoft was the first accompanist for Cirkusrevyen. He was hired, just as he arrived to Copenhagen from Holbæk. He wrote the melody for many of the songs in the first years such as "Molak molak mak mak mak", "Dit hjerte er i fare Andresen"(Your heart is in danger Andresen), "I den mellemste køje", "Degnens vise", "Schaldemose" and "Hen te' kommoden og tebavs igen". In the Danish Broadcasting Corporation show "Omkring Aage Stentoft" (Around Aage Stentoft) from 1984 he told, how he got involved. He was applying for a job as a piano player in the revue. Osvald Helmuth (14 July 1894 – 18 March 1966) was a Danish stage and film actor and revue singer. Revue
A revue is a type of multi-act popular theatrical entertainment that combines music, dance, and sketches. The revue has its roots in 19th century popular entertainment and melodrama but grew into a substantial cultural presence of its own during its golden years from 1916 to 1932. Dyrehavsbakken
(), commonly referred to as (), is an amusement park in Lyngby-Taarbæk Kommune, Denmark, near Klampenborg (Gentofte municipality), about north of central Copenhagen. It opened in and is the world's oldest operating amusement park. With 2.5–2.9 million visitors per year, it is the second most popular attraction in Denmark, after the more widely known Tivoli Gardens amusement park. Unlike Tivoli, admission is free. Aage Stentoft
Aage Stentoft (1 May 1914 – 8 July 1990) was a Danish composer, film score composer and theatre director. He composed over 700 melodies during his lifetime. Biography Stentoft was born in Holbæk, where he graduated from the Stenhus Kostskole (now ). Initially, he planned to study law, but due to lack of money, he started to compose music for commercials. In 1934, he began working as an accompanist and composer for the revue troupe ''Co-Optimisterne''. A lot of his tunes quickly achieved widespread popularity, and he earned good money by composing and, later on, by producing revues. During his career, Stentoft also managed various theatres: Frederiksberg Teater (now ) in Frederiksberg and three theatres in Copenhagen, , Det Ny Scala and . In 1961, he emigrated to Spain.
