Cingshuei High School
The Taichung Municipal Cingshuei Senior High School () is the only public high school in Qingshui District, Taichung, Taiwan. It has 1679 pupils in 42 classes. History The school was founded in March 1946 named Taichung County Cingshuei High School. In 1952, the school was transferred to the Taiwan Provincial Government, and renamed Taiwan Provincial Cingshuei High School. In 1968, renamed Taiwan Provincial Cingshuei Senior High School. In 2000, due to the "Government Reformation" the school was managed by the central government under Ministry of Education, and renamed National Cingshuei Senior High School. In 2017, the school was transferred to the Taichung City Government, and renamed Taichung Municipal Cingshuei Senior School. Qingshui District
Qingshui District (), also spelled as Chingshui District, is a coastal suburban district in western Taichung City, Taiwan. Geography Qingshui is located on the Qingshui Plain of Taiwan. It borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, the Dajia River to the north, and the Dadu Plateau to the east. Qingshui shares borders with Da'an, Dajia, and Waipu to the north, Shengang to the east, and Wuqi and Shalu to the south. History The earliest evidence of humans living in this area is from 4000 years ago in the Neolithic Age. The archaeological site is preserved in the Niumatou Site. Suburb
A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. Paul Ching Wu Chu (; born February 12, 1941) is a Chinese-American physicist specializing in superconductivity, magnetism, and dielectrics. He is a Professor of physics and T.L.L. Temple Chair of Science in the Physics Department at the University of Houston College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. He was the President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2001 to 2009. In 1987, he was one of the first scientists to demonstrate high-temperature superconductivity. Chen Wen-tsuen
Chen Wen-tsuen (; born 27 May 1948) is an ethnic Taiwanese computer scientist, a distinguished research fellow at the Academia Sinica and a lifelong national chair of the Ministry of Education, Taiwan. From 2006 to 2010, he was the president of the National Tsing Hua University, a premier research university in Taiwan. Early life Chen received his B.Sc. degree (1970) in nuclear engineering at the National Tsing Hua University, and his M.Sc. degree (1973) and Ph.D. degree (1976) in electrical engineering and computer sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. Robert Tsao
Robert Tsao (; born 24 February 1947 ) is a Taiwanese businessman best known as the founder of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC). He is also a fine arts critic and collector in his private life. Early life Tsao was born in 1947 in Beijing. A year and a half later he moved with his family to Taiwan because his father had taken a job there teaching Mandarin as part of a Kuomintang (KMT) campaign of sinicization in the former Japanese colony. He was one of six siblings. He attended National Taiwan University majoring in electrical engineering and management. Peter Tsai
Peter Tsai (Chinese: 蔡秉燚; born February 6, 1952) is a Taiwanese-American inventor and material scientist who is best known for inventing and patenting the N95 mask filter. He is an expert in the field of nonwoven fabric. Tsai was a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee, but ended his retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic to research N95 mask sterilization. Liao I-chiu
Liao I-chiu () (b. Nov. 4, 1936) is a Taiwanese academic who specializes in commercial aquatic animal breeding and aquaculture. He is known as the "Father of Shrimp Farming". Early life and education Liao was born in Tokyo to Taiwanese parents on 4 November 1936, and moved to Taiwan at the age of four. He grew up in Fengyuan, Taichung. In 1962 he went back to Japan to study at the University of Tokyo. He returned to Taiwan in 1968 after earning his Ph.D. in agriculture. Tsai Chi-chang (; born 16 April 1969) is a Taiwanese politician. He was elected to the Legislative Yuan in Taichung's first constituency in 2012 and re-elected in 2016. He is currently the Deputy Speaker of Legislative Yuan, having served in this role since 1 February 2016.
