Robert Tsao
Robert Tsao (; born 24 February 1947 ) is a Taiwanese businessman best known as the founder of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC). He is also a fine arts critic and collector in his private life. Early life Tsao was born in 1947 in Beijing. A year and a half later he moved with his family to Taiwan because his father had taken a job there teaching Mandarin as part of a Kuomintang (KMT) campaign of sinicization in the former Japanese colony. He was one of six siblings. He attended National Taiwan University majoring in electrical engineering and management. Career After school he went to work at the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). He left ITRI to found UMC in 1980. In 1988 he visited Beijing and met with Jiang Zemin. In 2001, UMC moved into China by setting up Hejian Technology (Suzhou) Co. in Jiangsu. This led to Tsao being charged in 2005 with violating the Business Entity Accounting Act. The Republic of China national identification card (), commonly known as the national identification card of Taiwan, is a compulsory identity document issued to people who hold both nationality and household registration in Taiwan. The National Identification Card served as the evidence for the household registration in Taiwan which grants the holder the right of abode and full civil and political rights in Taiwan. The card is used for virtually all other activities that require identity verification within Taiwan such as opening bank accounts and voting. Despite the name mentioning "national", not all nationals regulated by Taiwanese nationality law are eligible to apply for an ID card. 2022 US Congressional Delegation Visit To Taiwan
United States politician Nancy Pelosi, while serving as the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, visited Taiwan ( officially the Republic of China) on August 2, 2022. Chu Teh-Chun or Zhu Dequn (24 October 1920 – 26 March 2014) was a Chinese-French abstract painter acclaimed for his pioneering style integrating traditional Chinese painting techniques with Western abstract art. Chu Teh-Chun enrolled in the National School of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Art), where he studied under Fang Ganmin and Wu Dayu.
