Cidinho and Doca (in Portuguese Cidinho e Doca, also as Cidinho & Doca) is a Rio de Janeiro-based Brazilian rap duo made up of Sidney da Silva (''MC Cidinho'') and Marcos Paulo de Jesus Peixoto (''MC Doca''), two "proibidão" rappers. Rapping career "Proibidão" refers to songs whose airplay is legally prohibited in Brazil due to alleged crime apology and promotion of drugs and arms usage. Proibidão
Proibidão, which literally translates to "strongly prohibited", is a subgenre of funk carioca music originating from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro where it began in the early 1990s as a parallel phenomenon to the growth of drug gangs in the many slums of the city. The drug gangs sponsored DJs and baile funks in the favelas they controlled to spread respect and love for their gang as well as hate to the other gangs. The music that resulted is proibidão. Proibidão is characterized as a raw mix of live funk vocals and Miami bass structures. The explicit lyrics typically promote the gang the MC is affiliated with, crime, drug use, and violence. "Rap das Armas" ( en, "Rap of Weapons") is a 1990s song originally written and performed by Brazilian duo Júnior e Leonardo. It has lyrics in Brazilian Portuguese written on the melody of the 1986 song " Your Love" by the English rock band The Outfield. Brazilian duo Cidinho and Doca, made up of MC Cidinho and MC Doca, recorded and released a cover of the song, making it an international hit both in 2008 and in 2009. Favelas
Favela () is an umbrella name for several types of working-class neighborhoods in Brazil. The term was first used in the Providência neighborhood in the center of Rio de Janeiro in the late 19th century, which was built by soldiers who had lived under the favela trees in Bahia and had nowhere to live following the Canudos War. Some of the first settlements were called ''bairros africanos'' (African neighborhoods). Over the years, many former enslaved Africans moved in. Even before the first favela came into being, poor citizens were pushed away from the city and forced to live in the far suburbs.
