Cidade Do Samba
Cidade do Samba (Portuguese language, Portuguese, ''Samba City''), formally known as Cidade do Samba Joãozinho Trinta, is a complex of buildings in the neighborhood of Gamboa, Rio de Janeiro, Gamboa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is used for Samba schools to prepare for carnival. About fourteen of the major samba schools have a warehouse in the complex. February 2011 fire On the early morning of Monday February 7, 2011, four weeks before carnival, a fire broke out in the buildings. The warehouses contain many costumes and floats, often composed with inflammable materials. Império Serrano
The Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Império Serrano is a samba school of the city of Rio de Janeiro, that was created on March 23 of 1947 after a disagreement of the extinct samba school Prazer da Serrinha. It was nine times champion of the Carnaval and can be considered one of the most traditional schools of the samba of the city. One of the principal vainglories of its members is the open democracy of the school, established in the school's foundation. Imperatriz Leopoldinense
The samba school Imperatriz Leopoldinense was created on March 6, 1956 in the suburb of Ramos, in Rio de Janeiro. It is named after Maria Leopoldina, archduchess of Austria and Empress of Brazil, consort of Emperor Pedro I. Imperatriz began its successful journey to victory in 1980 when it won the championship for the first time. Since then it won the first prize eight times. From 1992 to 2009, the school had a carnival as a teacher, artist, set designer and costume designer Rosa Magalhães, who has five titles to college. The Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Beija-Flor is a Samba school headquartered in the municipality of Nilópolis, Baixada Fluminense, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In total, Beija-Flor has won 14 parades of the Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro; as general champion in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1998, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2018. It was the overall runner-up and vice champion school in 1979, 1981, 1985, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002. The Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel is a samba school of the city of Rio de Janeiro, being located on Rua Coronel Tamarindo, in the neighborhood of Padre Miguel. History The Mocidade was founded on 10 November 1955, by eight people: Silvio Trindade, Renato da Silva, Djalma Rosa, Olímpio Bonifácio (Bronquinha), Orozimbo de Oliveira (Seu Orozimbo), Garibaldi F. The Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba São Clemente is a samba school from Rio de Janeiro, located in the Cidade Nova neighborhood, on Avenida Presidente Vargas. The school became famous over the years for plots regarded as full of good humor, and sarcastic criticism of the most diverse themes. São Clemente also has sand beach soccer teams in various categories, commonly considered to be one of the few great teams of this sport that does not belong to the Copacabana-Leblon axis. Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, popularly known simply as Salgueiro is a popular samba school from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was established on March 5, 1953 from the merger of Morro do Salgueiro's two samba schools called Azul e Branco do Salgueiro (''Salgueiro's Blue and White'') and Depois Eu Digo (''I'll Say it Later''), which then merged again with Unidos do Salgueiro. The Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Portela in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is a decorated, traditional samba school. It was champion of the 2017 Carnival parade and has the highest number of wins in the top-tier Rio parade, with 22 titles in total. It was thrice champion of the Special Group and is currently headquartered in Boulevard 28 de Setembro in Vila Isabel. The Unidos de Vila Isabel samba school was crowned the winner of the 2013 Rio Carnival on Wednesday for its attractive and colourful parade highlighting rural life and the customs of the Brazilian interior.
