Cibao is a barrio in the municipality of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 1,224. History Cibao was in Spain's gazetteers until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the combined population of Cibao and Guajataca barrios was 1,169. Sectors Barrios (which are, in contemporary times, roughly comparable to minor civil divisions) in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (''sectors'' in English). Guajataca River
Guajataca River ( es, Río Guajataca) is a river in Lares, Puerto Rico. It is located on the northwest coast of the island. It flows from the south and drains into the Atlantic Ocean. The name was given by the original Taino inhabitants prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Guajataca River has a length of approximately with its origin in the Buenos Aires barrio of the municipality of Lares, Puerto Rico at an altitude of approximately above sea level. It crosses the municipalities of Lares, San Sebastián, Quebradillas, and Isabela forming Guajataca Lake on its path. The river also gives name to one of the principal lodgings in the area, ''Parador Guajataca''. A minor civil division (MCD) is a term used by the United States Census Bureau for primary governmental and/or administrative divisions of a county or county-equivalent, typically a municipal government such as a city, town, or civil township.
