Chua Chu Kang Secondary School (CCKSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore. Founded in 1992, the integrated government school offers secondary education under three academic streams, which leads to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level or the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level examinations. The school would be merged with Teck Whye Secondary School (TWSS) in 2023, with the new school taking on the current name, Chua Chu Kang Secondary School. History Founding and pre-merger (1992–2022) Chua Chu Kang Secondary School (CCKSS) was founded in 1992 with a staff strength of only 10 teachers. A cohort of 318 Express stream and Normal (Academic) stream students joined the school in 1993 as the pioneer batch of students. The school consistently pushed for higher standards, and was one of the top 20 Value-Added schools under the official ranking by the Ministry of Education in 2003. Choa Chu Kang, alternatively spelt as Chua Chu Kang and often abbreviated as CCK, is a planning area and residential town located at the north-westernmost point of the West Region of Singapore. The town shares borders with Sungei Kadut to the north, Tengah to the southwest, Bukit Batok to the southeast, Bukit Panjang to the east and the Western Water Catchment to the west. Choa Chu Kang New Town is separated into two portions by the Kranji Expressway. The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (or Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level) is a GCE Ordinary Level examination held annually in Singapore and is jointly conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES). Teck Whye Secondary School
Teck Whye Secondary School (TWSS) was a co-educational government secondary school in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore. It was founded in 1966 and merged with Chua Chu Kang Secondary School in 2023. History In the days before English was the main medium of instruction, TWSS used to offer Chinese-medium and Malay-medium classes as well. The school itself was situated in Jalan Teck Whye for many of years, until it had been relocated to a new building in Teck Whye Crescent, 2002. Under the leadership of principal Adrian Cordeiro, the school revamped its school crest, school uniform and school song. A new principal, Ong Kong Hong, took over at the end of 2009. At the start of January 2014, Edwin Chan, former vice principal of Crescent Girls' School, took over as principal when Ong Kong Hong took up the appointment of Cluster Superintendent at the Ministry of Education headquarters.
