Christoph Betzl
Christoph Betzl (born 13 February 1949) is a former international speedway rider from West Germany. Speedway career Betzl reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1979 Individual Speedway World Championship representing West Germany. He has also reached the final of the Individual Speedway Long Track World Championship on eight occasions in 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1982. He won a bronze medal in the 1980 final and a silver medal in the 1981 final. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway, riding for Poole Pirates. Poole Pirates
Poole Pirates (also known as Poole Speedway) are a motorcycle speedway team based in Poole, England, competing in the SGB Championship. The club have been the champions of the United Kingdom on ten occasions. Poole Speedway is promoted by local businessman Matt Ford and son Danny Ford, who took over promoting rights of the club in 1998. The team is managed by past rider and former Great Britain team manager Neil Middleditch. Wimborne Road Stadium has been home to the club since it was founded in 1948. In August 2004, Poole hosted the Speedway World Cup final, which was won by Sweden. Stadium Poole Stadium (also known as Wimborne Road Stadium), has been the Pirates' home track since the club was created in 1948. It is situated near to the town centre and is owned by Poole Borough Council. The stadium's capacity was limited to 5,500 people in 2008 for safety reasons. Inzell
Inzell is a municipality in the district of Traunstein in Bavaria, Germany. The 1980 Individual Long Track World Championship was the tenth edition of the FIM speedway Individual Long Track World Championship. The event was held on 14 September 1980 at Scheeßel in West Germany. The World title was won by Karl Maier of West Germany. The Championship consisted of four qualifying rounds at Harsewinkel, Korskro, Hamburg-Farmsen, Pfarrkirchen won by Bruce Penhall, Ivan Mauger, Egon Müller and Georg Hack respectively and two semi finals in Jübek and Gornja Radgona won by Ole Olsen and Josef Aigner. Final Classification + Alois Wiesböck finished third but was disqualified because his engine was found to be over the prescribed limit. Bronze medals were awarded to both Betzl and Aigner.
