Chitra Chinta
''Chitra Chinta'' ( as, চিত্ৰ চিন্তা) is an annual cine journal published by Gauhati Cine Club. The journal is the brainchild of Bhabendra Nath Saikia, noted Assamese filmmaker who started publishing it in the early part of the last century. It was an irregularly published newsletter until 2003 when it was redesigned as an annual magazine. It covers contributions from all the stalwarts of Assamese literature and film critics. The journal won the prestigious Prag Cine Award. Gauhati Cine Club
Gauhati Cine Club is a registered film society of Assam. It was founded by Dr Bhupen Hazarika on April 26, 1965, along with a handful of film lovers, critics, and writers. It was formed three years after the formation of the first film society of North East India “The Shillong Film Society” founded by Padum Barua, Md. Sadullah and some of film enthusiasts. The main objective of the society is to create awareness in the society about cinema as a serious art and to form an environment for serious discourse and debate in the cinematic and intellectual world. Since its inception, the society has been organizing Film Appreciation Courses with experts from the field, publishing books on film and holding workshops on film craft. It is registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. The current advisers of the club is Harekrishna Deka and Bhuban Chandra Lahkar and the president is A. K. Absar Hazaika. Bhabendra Nath Saikia
Bhabendra Nath Saikia (20 February 1932 – 13 August 2003) was a novelist, short-story writer, Editor and a Film director from Assam, India. Dr. Saikia received his doctorate in physics from the University of London. He began his career as a reader in the Department of Physics, University of Guwahati. He later played an important role in the publication of college level textbooks in Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages.He was the pioneering motive behind the publication of college level textbooks in Assamese language during his tenure as the Secretary of the Co-ordination Committee for production of textbooks in regional languages. He was the founding editor of the Assamese language weekly Prantik and the children's magazine Safura. He has written plays for radio and Mobile theatre. Assam
Assam (; ) is a state in northeastern India, south of the eastern Himalayas along the Brahmaputra and Barak River valleys. Assam covers an area of . Assamese Language
Assamese (), also Asamiya ( ), is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in the north-east Indian state of Assam, where it is an official language, and it serves as a ''lingua franca'' of the wider region. The easternmost Indo-Iranian language, it has over 23 million speakers. Nefamese, an Assamese-based pidgin, is used in Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagamese, an Assamese-based Creole language, is widely used in Nagaland. The Kamtapuri language of Rangpur division of Bangladesh and the Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri districts of India are linguistically closer to Assamese, though the speakers identify with the Bengali culture and the literary language. Prag Cine Awards are presented annually by Prag News & Rengoni, a satellite television channel from Assam. The aim of the award to give support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and honour some of the eminent film personalities who have contributed to the cause of Assamese cinema of Assam.
