Chen Changwen
Chen Changwen (; born 1944) is a Chinese politician and lawyer who was the secretary of the Straits Exchange Foundation and the president of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China. Chen was chairman and chief executive officer of Lee and Li, one of Taiwan's largest law firms, and currently serves as senior partner. Biography Chen Changwen was born in 1944 in Kunming, Yunnan, with his ancestral hometown in Fuzhou. His father, Chen Shouren (), was a soldier, who graduated from the Whampoa Military Academy. He was the fourth child of four children. In 1949, after the Chinese Civil War, Chen Shouren went to Taiwan with his family. In October, Chen Shouren was transferred to Sichuan and appointed chief of staff of the 69th army. Later, he died in Qionglai. Chen Changwen was raised in Taipei. Straits Exchange Foundation
The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF; ; often abbreviated as 海基會) is a semiofficial organization set up by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to handle technical and/or business matters with the People's Republic of China (PRC). Though technically a private organization, it is funded by the government and under the supervision of the Mainland Affairs Council of the Executive Yuan. Its role is effectively to function as the ''de facto'' embassy to the PRC, as a means of avoiding acknowledgement of the PRC's statehood status. Whampoa Military Academy
The Republic of China Military Academy () is the service academy for the army of the Republic of China, located in Fengshan District, Kaohsiung. Previously known as the the military academy produced commanders who fought in many of China's conflicts in the 20th century, notably the Northern Expedition, the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War. The military academy was officially opened on May 1, 1924, under the Kuomintang (KMT), but the first lessons began on June 16, 1924. The inauguration was on Changzhou Island offshore from the Whampoa (Huangpu) dock in Guangzhou, thus earning its name. Sichuan
