Chelan is a hamlet in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Geography The community is on the north side of Highway 23, at the intersection of Highway 38 and Highway 773. Red Deer River is about 4km to the west and Greenwater Creek runs along the eastern edge of town. Demographics In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Chelan had a population of 45 living in 22 of its 34 total private dwellings, a change of from its 2016 population of 55. Red Deer River (Manitoba)
Red Deer River is a river in the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It has its source at Nut Lake in east central Saskatchewan and from there, it flows east towards Manitoba where it empties into Dawson Bay of Lake Winnipegosis. To the north of Red Deer's basin is the Saskatchewan River, to the south-west is the upper Assiniboine River, and to the south-east is Swan River. Course The Red Deer River begins at the north end of Nut Lake near Highway 349 and west of Porcupine Hills in east central Saskatchewan. From Nut Lake, it heads north past Greenwater Lake Provincial Park towards Pré-Ste-Marié. From there, near the junctions of Highways 679 and 773, it turns east towards the town of Hudson Bay and the Hudson Bay Regional Park, which is the site of a former North West Company fort named Fort Red Deer River. Greenwater Creek
Greenwater Lake is a lake in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The lake is at the heart of Greenwater Lake Provincial Park in the Porcupine Provincial Forest on the Porcupine Hills. The RM of Bjorkdale No. 426 surrounds the lake and Highway 38 provides access to it. The lake is so named not because of the colour of the water but rather the colour of the trees reflecting off the water. Description Several small creeks flow into the lake, including a short creek from neighbouring Marean Lake. The outflow for the lake is Greenwater Creek, which exits the lake at the north-east corner and flows in a north-easterly direction, crossing Highways 38 and 23 near Chelan. About 3 miles north of Chelan, the Greenwater Creek meets up with the Red Deer River. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016.
