Chedli Klibi
Chedli Klibi ( ar, الشاذلي القليبي; September 6, 1925 – May 13, 2020) was a Tunisian politician. He was Secretary General of the Arab League, and the only non-Egyptian to hold the post. Early life Mr. Klibi graduated with a Baccalaureat de l'Enseignement Secondaire in philosophy from Sadiki College in 1944. After graduate work at the Pantheon-Sorbonne University where he earned a degree in Arabic language and literature in 1947. Having mastered the Arabic and French languages, he lectured at the Institut des Hautes Etudes and the Ecole Normale Superieure. Career After becoming Director General of Radio Tunis in 1958, he became the Ministry of Culture (Tunisia), Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs (1961 - 1970, 1971 - 1973, 1976 - 1978) under the chairmanship of Habib Bourguiba, then chief of staff to the president from 1974 to 1976 before being Minister of Information from 1978 to 1979. Carthage (municipality)
Carthage (; ar, قرطاج, Qarṭāj) is a commune in Tunis Governorate, Tunisia. It is named for, and includes in its area, the archaeological site of Carthage. Established in 1919, Carthage is some 15 km to the east-northeast of Tunis, situated between the towns of Sidi Bou Said to the north and Le Kram to the south. It is reached from Tunis by the R23 road via La Goulette, or by the N9 road via Tunis-Carthage Airport. Esmat Abdel Meguid
Ahmed Asmat Abdel-Meguid ( ar, أحمد عصمت عبد المجيد; 22 March 1923– 21 December 2013) was an Egyptian diplomat. He served as the Foreign Minister of Egypt between 1984 and 1991, and as the Secretary-General of the Arab League from 1991 until 2001. Biography Born in Alexandria in March 1923, Abdel Meguid received a law degree from Alexandria University in 1944 before going on to obtain a doctorate of international law from the University of Paris in 1947. He joined the Egyptian foreign ministry in 1950 and worked in several departments, notably the British and French sections. In 1967 he was appointed as Chairman of the State Information Service, a post he held for a year. He became ambassador to France in 1970, deputy foreign minister in 1970, and Egypt's high representative to the United Nations in 1972.
