Chartres ASTT
Association Sportive de Tennis de Table de Chartres is a table tennis club based in Chartres, France. One of the best teams in the country in the recent years, it won the French top division Pro A both in 2012 and 2013. Chartres also has respectable results in continental competitions, having won the ETTU Cup in 2011 and finishing runner-up in the European Champions League in 2013. Chartres
Chartres () is the prefecture of the Eure-et-Loir department in the Centre-Val de Loire region in France. It is located about southwest of Paris. At the 2019 census, there were 170,763 inhabitants in the metropolitan area of Chartres (as defined by the INSEE), 38,534 of whom lived in the city (commune) of Chartres proper. Table Tennis
Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. ETTU Cup
The ETTU Cup is the second most important continental tournament for clubs in European table tennis, after the European Champions League. The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) has organized this cup since the 1964-65 season for men teams, and also for women teams a year later. Name The competition was held in the 1964/65 season for the first time for men and a year later for ladies. At that time this tournament was called the European Fair Cities Cup. In 1984 it was renamed ETTU Nancy Evans Cup after the wife of then ITTF President Roy Evans. In 2005, the cup was renamed to the current name, the "ETTU Cup", while "Nancy Evans Cup" became the name of the trophy and is awarded to the winner. European Champions League (table Tennis)
European Champions League (ECL) is the seasonal table tennis competition for the highest ranked European club teams and is regarded as the most important international club competition in Europe. It is organised by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) and replaced the European Club Cup of Champions (ECCC), the previous prominent club competition, since the 1998/99 season. Originally there was only a men's competition; a women's competition was introduced in the 2005/06 season. The competition starts in September and the champions are usually determined in May in recent years. Damien Éloi (born 4 July 1969 in Vire, Calvados) is a French table tennis player. As of February 2013, Eloi is ranked no. 88 in the world by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). He is also right-handed, and uses the attacking grip and Tibhar 4S blade. Table tennis career Since he became a member of the national team in 1990, Eloi is considered one of France's top-level table tennis players in its sporting history. Robert Gardos ( hu, Gárdos Róbert, ; born 16 January 1979 in Budapest) is a Hungarian-born Austrian table tennis player, European Champion and Olympic participant. He plays for the French club Chartres ASTT. Since the opening in 2011, Robert Gardos practices at the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat, Austria. Career Early career Gardos was born on 16 January 1979 in Budapest, Hungary. He began playing table tennis in his hometown club Budapesti VSC where his father, Gábor Gárdos worked as a coach. João Pedro Andrade Selgas Monteiro (born 29 August 1983) is a Portuguese table tennis player. At the 2015 European Championships, he won the gold medal in the Doubles competition. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Table tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's singles, Men's singles, but was defeated in the second round.
