Charrúa Ridge
Charrúa Ridge is an ice-free rocky ridge rising to along the northeast coast of Johnsons Dock in Hurd Peninsula, Livingston Island, in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is narrow and precipitous, extending in a west-northwest to east-southeast direction, with triple heights of elevation 322, 333 and 332 m respectively, and linked to Castillo Nunatak by Charrúa Gap. It surmounts Contell Glacier to the north, South Bay to the west, Johnsons Dock to the southwest and Johnsons Glacier to the south. Johnsons Glacier
Johnsons Glacier is the 1.8 km long and 2.3 km wide glacier on Hurd Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica bounded by Charrúa Ridge and Charrúa Gap to the north, Napier Peak to the east, Mirador Hill to the southeast, Hurd Ice Cap (from which it receives ice influx) to the southwest and Mount Reina Sofía to the west. It is draining northwestwards into Johnsons Dock. The glacier provides overland access from the Spanish base Juan Carlos I Base, Juan Carlos Primero to the interior of the eastern Livingston Island. Napier Peak
Napier Peak is the partly ice-free peak rising to 380 m on Hurd Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is linked to Charrúa Gap to the north by a 1.5 km ice-covered col, and by an ice-covered saddle to Mirador Hill to the south-southwest, and surmounts Johnsons Glacier to the northwest and west, Huntress Glacier to the east, and False Bay to the south. The feature is named after Captain William Napier, Master of the schooner ''Venus'', from New York, who visited the South Shetland Islands in 1820–21. Krum Rock
Krum Rock ( bg, Krumov Kamak \'kru-mov 'ka-m&k\) is a small nunatak rising to 208 metres on the southwest edge of Balkan Snowfield just north of Contell Glacier on Hurd Peninsula in eastern Livingston Island, one of the South Shetland Islands in Western Antarctica. The rock projects slightly above the ice sheet with some 3,000 square metres of rocky ground exposed on its northern slope in summer. Because of its location rather than prominence, it is a particularly important landmark in the course of field work carried out in the area. Location The nunatak is located at which is 1 km east of Atlantic Club Ridge, 1.2 km southeast of Sinemorets Hill, 2.8 km west by north of Castillo Nunatak, and 1 km north by east of the highest point of Charrúa Ridge. Hespérides Point ( es, Punta Hespérides) is a rocky point of land projecting into South Bay north-northwest of Johnsons Dock, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica and forming the southwest side of the entrance to Emona Anchorage. Surmounted by Hesperides Hill. The area was visited by 19th century sealers operating from nearby Johnsons Dock. The feature is named after the Spanish ocean exploration ship BIO Hesperides. Juan Carlos I Antarctic Base
Juan Carlos I Antarctic Base, named after the former king of Spain, Juan Carlos I ( es, Base Antártica Española Juan Carlos Primero), is a seasonal (November to March) scientific station operated by Spain, opened in January 1988. Situated on Hurd Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The base is controlled by the Marine Technology Unit of the Spanish National Research Council and is 20 miles away from the Spanish Antarctic base Gabriel de Castilla. The base has undergone several renovations, the closest remodeling was completed in 2018 and it was inaugurated by the Science Minister, Pedro Duque, on February 2, 2019. This latest renovation involved the construction of "new facilities hathave allowed it to double its capacity, up to 51 people, and increase the space available for scientific and technical personnel in laboratories." South Bay (Livingston Island)
South Bay () is a wide bay indenting for the south coast of Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The bay is lying northwest of False Bay, Livingston Island, False Bay and east of Walker Bay, and is entered between Hannah Point and Miers Bluff. The glaciers Kamchiya Glacier, Kamchiya, Pimpirev Glacier, Pimpirev, Perunika Glacier, Perunika, Contell Glacier, Contell, Johnsons Glacier, Johnsons and Hurd Ice Cap feed the bay. South Bay was known to both US, American and UK, British sealers as early as 1820, and the name has been well established in international usage for over 100 years.
