Hespérides Point
Hespérides Point ( es, Punta Hespérides) is a rocky point of land projecting into South Bay north-northwest of Johnsons Dock, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica and forming the southwest side of the entrance to Emona Anchorage. Surmounted by Hesperides Hill. The area was visited by 19th century sealers operating from nearby Johnsons Dock. The feature is named after the Spanish ocean exploration ship BIO Hesperides. Hesperides Hill
Hesperides Hill (Halm Hesperides \'h&lm he-spe-'ri-des\) is a ridge linked by a saddle of elevation 52 m with the northern slopes of Atlantic Club Ridge on Hurd Peninsula, eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The hill surmounts the South Bay coast north of Johnsons Dock to the southwest, and Bulgarian Beach to the northeast and is bounded to the southwest by Sea Lion Glacier. The ridge extends 420 m in south-southeast to north-northwest direction and is 250 m wide and narrowing towards north-northwest. Hesperides Hill has two heights, 94 and 63 m, the latter surmounting Hespérides Point. The hill is snow-free in summer months and is named from the adjacent Hespérides Point. Ballester Point
Ballester Point ( bg, text=нос Балестер, italic=no, ‘Nos Ballester’ \'nos ba-'les-ter\) is a point forming the south side of the entrance to Johnsons Dock and the northeast side of the entrance to Española Cove in Hurd Peninsula, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The area was visited by early 19th century sealers operating from Johnsons Dock. The feature is named for Antonio Ballester, a doyen of the Spanish Antarctic Program. Smolyan Point
Smolyan Point (Nos Smolyan \'nos 'smo-lyan\) is located on the north-western coast of South Bay, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica forming the northwest side of the entrance to Emona Anchorage. The ice-covered point shows conspicuous radial crevasses spreading inland and ends up with a 25 m wide and 4 m high rock. The feature was formed as a result of Pimpirev Glacier's retreat in the late 20th century. Smolyan is the name of a town in the Rhodope Mountains in southern Bulgaria. Hannah Point
Hannah Point is a point on the south coast of Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It forms the east side of the entrance to Walker Bay and the west side of the entrance to South Bay. Surmounted by Ustra Peak to the north, with Liverpool Beach extending between the peak and the tip of Hannah Point. Ice-free area ca. . The area was visited by early 19th century sealers frequenting nearby Johnsons Dock. The British base camp Station P on the east side of Hannah Point operated from 29 December 1957 until 15 March 1958. Among the birds that make their home here are the gentoo and macaroni penguins as well as kelp gulls. Southern giant petrels nest here as do blue-eyed shags, skuas, and snowy sheathbills. BIO ''Hespérides'' (A-33), is a Spanish polar research vessel. She was built in 1990, by Bazán Shipyards of Cartagena, Spain. ''Hespérides'' is used to service the research bases in Antarctica, mainly the Spanish Juan Carlos I Antarctic Base, as well as to perform research voyages. Seal Hunting
Seal hunting, or sealing, is the personal or commercial hunting of seals. Seal hunting is currently practiced in ten countries: United States (above the Arctic Circle in Alaska), Canada, Namibia, Denmark (in self-governing Greenland only), Iceland, Norway, Russia, Finland and Sweden. Most of the world's seal hunting takes place in Canada and Greenland. The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) regulates the seal hunt in Canada. It sets quotas (total allowable catch – TAC), monitors the hunt, studies the seal population, works with the Canadian Sealers' Association to train sealers on new regulations, and promotes sealing through its website and spokespeople. Emona Anchorage
Emona Anchorage ( bg, залив Емона, zaliv Emona, ) is a roughly square embayment, the internal part of South Bay, Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica used as an anchorage for ships visiting the Bulgarian base St. Kliment Ohridski. Emona is the name of a village and, in the version of Emine, a nearby cape on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Location The feature is centred at .
