Charles Wilkinson (director)
Charles Wilkinson is a Canadian documentary filmmaker and film and television director. He is best known for making documentaries that touch on environmental issues. These include ''Haida Modern'', ''Vancouver: No Fixed Address'', '' Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World'', '' Oil Sands Karaoke'', and ''Peace Out''. All five films premiered at Hot Docs International Documentary Festival, and have gone on to win awards at Hot Docs, the Vancouver International Film Festival, le Festival International du Film sur l'Art - Artfifa, the DGC Awards, the Leo Awards and the Yorkton Film Festival. Before moving into documentaries, Wilkinson worked for many years in dramatic television series and on feature films. Calgary ( ) is the largest city in the western Canadian province of Alberta and the largest metro area of the three Prairie Provinces. Dead Man's Gun
''Dead Man's Gun'' was a western anthology series on Showtime from 1997 to 1999. The series followed the travels of a gun as it passed to a new character in each episode. The gun would change the life of whoever possessed it. Each episode was narrated by Kris Kristofferson. The executive producer was Henry Winkler. Plot Set in the Old West, this anthology follows the eponymous artifact, a handsome yet cursed gun that brings either disaster or fortune to whoever possesses it. In some cases of the former consequence, the gun's more villainous owners are killed at the end of the episode, while in others they live but suffer for their misdeeds. In a similar fashion to ''The Twilight Zone'' and '' The Outer Limits'', there are often twist endings to the stories. For example, in the episode, "The Collector", the main character discovers that his servant is actually the infamous criminal, El Lobo, who then scalps him. The ''Calgary Safety Roundup'' was a popular Canadian television variety series broadcast by CFCN-TV in Calgary from 1961 until the mid-seventies. Origins The program was developed by Sgt. Don Hanson and Corporal Bill Chisholm of the Calgary Police Department. The pair had organized 'school patrol' traffic safety brigades at local schools to help protect children from the increasing vehicle traffic. As a reward for these volunteers they organized a regular Saturday morning musical variety show and movie at Calgary's Palace Theater. The initial cast of the variety show consisted of pre-teens Sharleen Gibson, Patty Johnson, Cameron Whyte and Will and Charles Wilkinson. ''Heart of the Storm'' is a 2004 American made-for-television action thriller drama film directed by Charles Wilkinson, starring Melissa Gilbert and Tom Cavanagh. The film originally aired on the Lifetime cable network on November 22, 2004. Plot The story focuses on a prison break that occurs during a hurricane. Three convicts – Juke, Tad and their leader Simpson – seek refuge in a family's small house and decide to hold them captive. The family begins to get along with the escaped prisoners until Tad and Simpson get into a fight. Simpson ends up shooting Tad, incapacitating him. When the father of the family comes home, he is also shot by Simpson. Juke tries to help the family escape Simpson's treachery, only to be wounded by a gunshot as well.
