Charles Morgan, 1st Baron Tredegar
Charles Morgan Robinson Morgan, 1st Baron Tredegar (10 April 1792 – 16 April 1875), was a Welsh Whig peer and a member of the House of Lords. He was the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Charles Morgan, 2nd Baronet, and his wife, the former Mary Margaret Stoney, and was educated at Harrow School, Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford (1811). He was first elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Brecon in 1812 and was re-elected in 1830 and 1835. He served in the Glamorgan Yeomanry and later in the militia (the Royal Glamorgan Light Infantry, commissioned as Major on 3 April 1849), and was appointed High Sheriff of Monmouthshire for 1821–22 and High Sheriff of Brecknockshire for 1850–51. He was created Baron Tredegar, of Tredegar in the County of Monmouth on 16 April 1859 and was Lord Lieutenant of Brecknockshire from 1866 until his death. He died in April 1875. Charles Gould Morgan
Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Charles Gould Morgan, 2nd Baronet (4 February 1760 – 5 December 1846), was a Welsh soldier and politician, the MP for Brecon and County of Monmouth. Early career The 2nd baronet was the son of Sir Charles Morgan, 1st Baronet (originally Charles Gould), and Jane Morgan (daughter of Thomas Morgan. His sister Jane married the industrialist Samuel Homfray. He was commissioned ensign and lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards on 21 November 1777, and promoted to lieutenant and captain on 22 March 1781. He was taken prisoner in the capitulation at Yorktown on 19 October. He was promoted captain and lieutenant-colonel on 14 May 1790, retiring from the Army on 4 December 1792. He became an MP for Brecon (1787–1796) and later for the County of Monmouth (1796–1831), supporting the government of Lord Liverpool. He adopted the name of Morgan in 1792, at the same time as his father, and inherited the Tredegar estate of his Uncle John from his mother in 1797. ... Baron Tredegar
Baron Tredegar, of Tredegar in the County of Monmouth, was a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 16 April 1859 for the Welsh politician Sir Charles Morgan, 3rd Baronet, who had earlier represented Brecon in Parliament. His eldest son, Charles Rodney Morgan, sat as Member of Parliament for Brecon, but predeceased his father. Lord Tredegar was therefore succeeded by his second son, the second Baron. Barons Tredegar Charles Morgan was a politician and soldier, and notably commanded a section of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War. Godfrey was 22 and Captain in the 17th Lancers. His horse, Sir Briggs, also survived, and lived at Tredegar House until his death at the age of 28. He was buried with full military honours in the Cedar Garden at the House. The monument still stands there today. Joseph Russell Bailey, 1st Baron Glanusk (7 April 1840 – 6 January 1906), known as Sir Joseph Bailey, 2nd Baronet, from 1858 to 1899, was a Welsh Conservative Member of Parliament. Life Born at Leamington Spa, he was the son of Joseph Bailey, eldest son of the ironmaster Sir Joseph Bailey, 1st Baronet, and his wife, the eldest daughter of William Congreve Russell. George Pratt, 2nd Marquess Camden
George Charles Pratt, 2nd Marquess Camden, KG (2 May 1799 – 6 August 1866) was a British peer and Tory politician, styled Viscount Bayham from 1794 to 1812 and Earl of Brecknock in 1812–1840. Pratt's father was John Pratt, Viscount Bayham, eldest son of Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden. His mother was Frances Molesworth, daughter of William Molesworth of Wembury, Devon (the second son of Sir John Molesworth, 4th Baronet). In 1821, Brecknock became Tory Member of Parliament for Ludgershall, then for Bath in 1830 and finally for Dunwich in 1831. He was also a Lord of the Admiralty from 1828 to 1829. On 8 January 1835, he was called to the House of Lords in his father's barony of Camden and was married later that year, on 27 August, to Harriet Murray (1813–1854), the daughter of George Murray, Bishop of Rochester. John Lloyd Vaughan Watkins (1802 – 28 September 1865) was a Welsh Liberal Party (UK), Liberal politician who sat in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons in three periods between 1832 and 1865. Watkins was the son of Rev. Thomas Watkins and his wife Susanna Vaughan. His father was rector of Llandyfaelog. Watkins was educated at Harrow and at Christ Church, Oxford. Sir Robert Salusbury, 1st Baronet (10 September 1756 – 17 November 1817) was a British Member of Parliament. He was the eldest son of Robert Salusbury of Cotton Hall, Denbighshire and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge (1775) before studying law from 1776 at Lincoln's Inn, where he was called to the bar in 1785. He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Monmouthshire from 1792 to 1796 and for Brecon from 1796 to 1812. He was made a baronet on 4 May 1795 and was High Sheriff of Monmouthshire for 1786–87. In 1780 he married Catherine, daughter and eventual heiress of Charles Van of Llanwern. They had three sons and two daughters. In 1816 he was jailed in the King's Bench Prison for bankruptcy and died at Canterbury in 1817.
