Charles Dudley Daly
Charles Dudley Daly (October 31, 1880 – February 12, 1959) was an American football player and coach, an author, and served in the United States Army during World War I. He played college football as a quarterback at Harvard University and the United States Military Academy and served as the head football coach at the latter from 1913 to 1916 and 1919 to 1922, compiling a career record of 58–13–3. Daly was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1951. Track And Field
Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The 1900 Harvard Crimson football team represented Harvard University in the 1900 college football season. In its second season under head coach Benjamin Dibblee, Harvard compiled a 10–1 record, shut out seven of 11 opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 205 to 44. The 1900 team won its first 10 games, but closed the season with a 28–0 loss against rival Yale. 1898 Harvard Crimson Football Team
The 1898 Harvard Crimson football team was an American football team that represented Harvard University as an independent during the 1898 college football season. In their second year under head coach William Cameron Forbes, the Crimson compiled an 11–0 record, shut out seven of eleven opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 257 to 19. There was no contemporaneous system in 1898 for determining a national champion. However, Harvard was retroactively named as the national champion by the Billingsley Report, Helms Athletic Foundation, Houlgate System, and National Championship Foundation. Hasty Pudding Club
The Hasty Pudding Club, often referred to simply as the Pudding, is a social club at Harvard University, and one of three sub-organizations that comprise the Hasty Pudding - Institute of 1770. The club's motto, ''Concordia Discors'' (discordant harmony), derives from the epistles of the Latin poet Horace. The year of founding for the club is usually given as 1795, when a group of undergraduates came together "to cherish feelings of friendship and patriotism," or as 1770, the founding year for the Institute of 1770, an organization that the Pudding absorbed in 1924. Fly Club
The Fly Club is a final club, traditionally "punching" (inviting to stand for election) male undergraduates of Harvard College during their sophomore or junior year. Undergraduate and graduate members participate in club activities. Founded 1836 as a literary society by the editors of ''Harvardiana'', the club was granted a charter by the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity in 1837 and remained a chapter until surrendering its charter in 1865. With the graduation of the members of the class of 1868, the club was discontinued until 1878, when graduate members, including Edward Everett Hale (class of 1839) and Phillips Brooks (class of 1855), initiated undergraduates from the class of 1879, to whom the old charter was restored.
