1900 Harvard Crimson Football Team
The 1900 Harvard Crimson football team represented Harvard University in the 1900 college football season. In its second season under head coach Benjamin Dibblee, Harvard compiled a 10–1 record, shut out seven of 11 opponents, and outscored all opponents by a total of 205 to 44. The 1900 team won its first 10 games, but closed the season with a 28–0 loss against rival Yale. Walter Camp selected three Harvard players as first-team selections to his 1900 College Football All-America Team. They were ends John Hallowell and Dave Campbell and quarterback Charles Dudley Daly. Benjamin Dibblee
Benjamin Harrison Dibblee (July 8, 1876 – November 11, 1945) was an American college football player and coach. He played Halfback (American football), halfback for Harvard University from 1896 to 1898, and was a consensus College Football All-America Team, All-American in 1897 and 1898. Dibblee served as the head football coach for Harvard from 1899 to 1900, compiling a 20–1–1. His 1899 Harvard Crimson football team, 1899 team was retroactively recognized as a College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS, national champion by a number of selectors. Dibblee attended preparatory school at the Groton School where he played on the football team and took a prominent role in athletics. Dibblee was small for a football player, even by the standards of the 1890s, standing 5 feet, 8-8½ inches, and weighing only 156 pounds. The Plain (West Point)
The Plain is the parade field at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. The flat terrain of the Plain is in contrast to the varied and hilly terrain of the remainder of the campus. The Plain rises approximately above the Hudson River and has been the site of the longest continually occupied U.S. Army garrison in America since 1778. In its early years, the entire academy was located on the Plain and it was used for varying activities ranging from drill and mounted cavalry maneuvers to an encampment site for summer training to a sports venue. The Harvard–Penn football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Harvard Crimson and Penn Quakers. The first game was played in 1881. 1900 Penn Quakers Football Team
The 1900 Penn Quakers football team represented the University of Pennsylvania in the 1900 college football season. The Quakers finished with a 12–1 record in their ninth year under head coach and College Football Hall of Fame inductee, George Washington Woodruff. Significant games included victories over Penn State (17–5), Chicago (41–0), Carlisle (16–6), and Navy (28–6), and a loss to Harvard (17–5). The 1900 Penn team outscored its opponents by a combined total of 335 to 45. The 1900 Carlisle Indians football team represented the Carlisle Indian Industrial School as an independent during the 1900 college football season. Led by second-year head coach Pop Warner, the Indians compiled a record of 6–4–1 and outscored opponents 207 to 92. Carlisle defeated Southern champion Virginia. West Point is the oldest continuously occupied military post in the United States.
