Chile

Los Lagos Region
Los Lagos Region ( es, Región de Los Lagos , ''Region of the Lakes'') is one of Chile's 16 regions, which are first order administrative divisions, and comprises four provinces: Chiloé, Llanquihue, Osorno and Palena. The region contains the country's second largest island, Chiloé, and the second largest lake, Llanquihue. Its capital is Puerto Montt; other important cities include Osorno, Castro, Ancud, and Puerto Varas. The mainland portion of Los Lagos Region south of Reloncavà Sound (Palena Province) is considered part of Patagonia. Historically, the Huilliche have called this territory between Bueno River and Reloncavà Sound Futahuillimapu, meaning "great land of the south". Calbuco (volcano)
Calbuco ( ; es, Volcán Calbuco, ) is a stratovolcano in southern Chile, located southeast of Llanquihue Lake and northwest of Chapo Lake, in the Los Lagos Region, and close to the cities of Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt. With an elevation of 2,015 meters above sea level, the volcano and the surrounding area are protected within the Llanquihue National Reserve. The most recent eruption, a major VEI 4 event, happened with little warning on April 22–23, 2015, followed by a smaller eruption on April 30. This was Calbuco's first activity since 1972. Alerce Andino National Park
Alerce Andino National Park is located in the Andes, in Los Lagos Region of Chile. This national park covers about 393 km2. It is bounded by the Reloncavà Estuary on its east and south sides, and by the Reloncavà Sound to the west (excluding a coastal fringe of a few km). To its north lies Chapo Lake. The park contains about 50 lakes and natural ponds. Management of this and other national parks in Chile is entrusted to Corporacion Nacional Forestal, CONAF. Flora The centerpiece of this lush and mountainous protected area are the Fitzroya cupressoides (locally known as ''Alerce'') forests, which consist of pure and mixed stands comprising a total surface of about 200 km2. Reloncavà Estuary
Reloncavà Estuary (Spanish: Esturario de ReloncavÃ, archaic: Sin Fondo) is a fjord off Reloncavà Sound, located in the Los Lagos Region of Chile. Several National Parks and Wilderness Areas are situated in the vicinity of this fjord. Among them are: Alerce Andino National Park, Hornopirén National Park, Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, Llanquihue National Reserve and the Cochamó Valley.
