Cesar Concio
Cesar Homero Rosales Concio Sr. (1907 – 2003) was an architect who as the first University Architect of the University of the Philippines designed many buildings in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus. He was also one of the architects who created the Makati Central Business District. Concio's architecture has been described in the Encyclopedia of Art as “a rational approach to design, resulting in logically arranged spaces, neatness of form, and a successful adaptation to climate". Education Cesar Concio graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of the Philippines in 1928. He was a member of Upsilon Sigma Phi. He then took up architecture at the Mapua Institute of Technology in 1932. In 1933, Concio ranked first in the government examination for architects. Manuel Acuña Roxas (born Manuel Roxas y Acuña; ; January 1, 1892 – April 15, 1948) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the fifth president of the Philippines, who served from 1946 until his death due to heart attacks in 1948. He served briefly as the third and last president of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from May 28, 1946, to July 4, 1946, and became the first president of the independent Third Philippine Republic after the United States ceded its sovereignty over the Philippines. The National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help ( fil, Pambansáng Dambana ng Iná ng Laging Saklolo), also known as the Redemptorist Church and colloquially as Baclaran Church, is a prominent national shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Help along Roxas Boulevard in Baclaran, Parañaque city of Metro Manila, Philippines. The church enshrines the icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, and is one of the largest Marian churches in the Philippines. Church Of The Risen Lord
The Church of the Risen Lord is a Protestant church located in the University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. It was constructed in the 1950s through the Christian Youth Movement (CYM), a student youth group. Architecture The Church of the Risen Lord was designed by Filipino architect Cesar Concio. The building is located nearby another landmark chapel in the campus, the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice, designed by Leandro Locsin. The structure was proclaimed in the 1950's as "an engineering masterpiece with its double parabola". The chapel is saddle-shaped – a hyperbolic paraboloid with flat ends. The lower slopes of the vaulted wall were punctured by windows and vertical louvers at both sides of the longitudinal elevation. Wenceslao "Bintao" Quinito Vinzons (born Wenceslao Quinito Vinson; September 28, 1910 – July 15, 1942) was a Filipino patriot and leader of the Philippine armed resistance against the Japanese invasion in World War II. He was the youngest delegate to the 1935 Philippine Constitutional Convention. For leading demonstrations as a student leader, he was dubbed the "''Father of Student Activism in the Philippines''".
