Central Coast Crusaders
Central Coast Crusaders is a NBL1 East club based in Central Coast, New South Wales. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 East. The Crusaders play their home games at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium, formerly known as Gosford City Basketball & Sports Stadium. Alongside the stadium's junior program the Gosford City Rebels, they make up two of the premier Country association programs in New South Wales. Club history Prior to 2006, a club known as Central Coast Power hosted both a men's and women's team in the Waratah League. For the 2006 season, the Power departed and in came a new men's team known as the Central Coast Crusaders. The NBL1 East, formerly the Waratah League, is a semi-professional basketball league in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2021, Basketball New South Wales and the National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League (NBL) announced a partnership to bring NBL1 to New South Wales in 2022, with NBL1 replacing the Waratah League. As a result, the Waratah League became the east conference of NBL1. The Waratah League was previously a member of the Australian Basketball Association (ABA) from 2001 to 2008. Central Coast (New South Wales)
The Central Coast is a peri-urban region in New South Wales, Australia, lying on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. The local government area of the Central Coast Council has an estimated population of 333,627 as of June 2018, growing by 1% annually. Comprising localities such as Gosford, Wyong and Terrigal, the area is the third-largest urban area in New South Wales and the ninth-largest urban area in Australia. Sydney Kings
The Sydney Kings are an Australian men's professional basketball team competing in the National Basketball League (NBL). The team is based in Sydney, New South Wales. The Kings were formed from a merger between the West Sydney Westars and the Sydney Supersonics in October 1987. Waratah League Teams
Waratah (''Telopea'') is an Australian-endemic genus of five species of large shrubs or small trees, native to the southeastern parts of Australia (New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania). The best-known species in this genus is ''Telopea speciosissima'', which has bright red flowers and is the New South Wales (NSW) state emblem. The waratah is a member of the family Proteaceae, flowering plants distributed in the Southern Hemisphere. The key diagnostic feature of Proteaceae is the inflorescence, which is often very large, brightly coloured and showy, consisting of many small flowers densely packed into a compact head or spike. Species of waratah boast such inflorescences ranging from 6–15 cm in diameter with a basal ring of coloured bracts. The leaves are spirally arranged, 10–20 cm long and 2–3 cm broad with entire or serrated margins. Basketball Teams In New South Wales
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three.
