Gresham ( ) is a city located in Multnomah County, Oregon, in the United States of America, immediately east of Portland, Oregon. It is considered a suburb within the Greater Portland Metropolitan area. Though it began as a settlement in the mid-1800s, it was not officially incorporated as a city until 1905; it was named after Walter Quintin Gresham, the American Civil War general and United States Secretary of State. Centennial High School (CHS) is a public high school located in Gresham, Oregon, United States. Academics In 1989, Centennial High School was honored in the Blue Ribbon Schools Program, the highest honor a school can receive in the United States. In 2008, 76% of the school's seniors received a high school diploma. Of 411 students, 311 graduated, 73 dropped out, eight received a Oregon modified high school diploma, modified diploma, and 19 were still in high school in 2009.
