Centennial Lake Provincial Nature Reserve
The Centennial Lake Provincial Nature Reserve (also known as Centennial Lake Provincial Park) is a provincial park located in the municipality of Greater Madawaska, Renfrew County, in Eastern Ontario, Canada. The reserve was created in 1989 and is managed by Ontario Parks. The park consists of 5 non-contiguous parts. The majority of the park is a section of land north of Black Donald Lake surrounding Oakhill Lake and bordered on the east by the Black Donald Creek; another part is the largest island in Black Donald Lake, and the remaining 3 parts are portions of three smaller islets in the same lake. The park protects unusual geological features and many rare plant species, including the Purple cliffbrake ('' Pellaea atropurpurea''). Greater Madawaska is an incorporated township in Renfrew County in eastern Ontario, Canada, created on January 1, 2001, through the amalgamation of the Township of Bagot and Blythfield; the Township of Brougham; and the Township of Griffith and Matawatchan. , it has a population of 2,518. Geography The township is composed of the geographic townships of Bagot, Blythfield (also spelled Blithfield), Brougham, Griffith and Matawatchan. Renfrew County
Renfrew County is a county in the Canadian province of Ontario. It stands on the west bank of the Ottawa River. There are 17 municipalities in the county. History Bathurst District When Carleton County was withdrawn from Bathurst District in 1838, Renfrew County was severed from part of the remaining Lanark County, but the two remained united for electoral purposes. Black Donald Lake
Black Donald Lake is a reservoir lake in the Township of Greater Madawaska, Renfrew County, and the Township of North Frontenac, Frontenac County, in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is on the Madawaska River and is part of the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin. The major inflow, at the west, is the Madawaska River, which arrives directly from Centennial Lake at the same elevation as Black Donald Lake. Secondary inflows are Black Donald Creek and Little Black Donald Creek at the centre north. The major outflow is also the Madawaska River, which flows over the dam at the Ontario Power Generation Mountain Chute Generating Station (hydroelectric) to Norcan Lake at the southeast.
