Cecilio Tieles
Cecilio Tieles Ferrer (born 1942 in Havana, Cuba) is a Cuban pianist, professor and musicologist. Academic background Cecilio Tieles began his piano studies in Havana, Cuba, with professors Arturo Marcelín and César Pérez Sentenat. In 1952, he travelled to Paris, where he studied with Madeleine Berthelier, Joseph Benvenutti and Marcel Ciampi. From 1958 to 1966, Tieles studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with professors Samuel Feinberg, Ludmila Roschina and Stanislav Neuhaus. Cecilio Tieles graduated in 1963, and at a later time took post-grade courses until 1966. Pianist In Cuba, Cecilio Tieles has developed an outstanding work as a concert pianist, and has offered numerous concerts as a soloist with national and regional symphonic orchestras. The Long–Thibaud–Crespin Competition is an international classical music competition for pianists, violinists and singers that has been held in France since 1943. (A Jacques Thibaud Competition was held the year before in Bordeaux: Jacques Thibaud chaired the jury and the First Prize was awarded to Jacques Dejean.) It was created by the pianist Marguerite Long and the violinist Jacques Thibaud. Thibaud died in 1953, Long in 1966. Vianna Da Motta International Music Competition
The Vianna da Motta International Music Competition was first constituted in 1957 in Lisbon in honor of José Vianna da Motta by his disciple Sequeira Costa, who remains its president; this inaugural edition was won by Naum Shtarkman. Unión De Escritores Y Artistas De Cuba
The National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, UNEAC) is a social, cultural and professional organization of writers, musicians, actors, painters, sculptors, and artist of different genres. It was founded on August 22, 1961, by the Cuban poet, Nicolas Guillen. Initially their objective was uniting the intellectuals within the young Cuban Revolution to maintain a genuine Cuban culture. The group issued ''La Gaceta de Cuba'' beginning in 1962. Cuban violinist and professor Evelio Tieles was President of the Music Section from 1977 to 1984.
