Carrozzeria Viotti
The Carrozzeria Viotti was an Italian coachbuilding company active between 1921 and 1964. The company was founded in Turin, Italy by Vittorio Viotti. Designers like Frua and Mario Revelli worked for the company. It was the first coachbuilding company in Italy to set up a proper production line. History In the mid-1920s Viotti and his partner Tolfo filed a patent for the "Clairalpax body" which was very successful for the excellent brightness of the passenger compartment. It was an innovation that involved the replacement of the massive wooden door-pillars, connecting the belt line and the soft top and supporting the windows of the cars, with thin nickel silver uprights that allowed a significant increase in the glass surfaces. Thanks to these earnings, in 1931 the company changed its name to "Carrozzeria Viotti SA" and moved to a larger warehouse in Corso Stupinigi to satisfy growing demand, using Fiat chassis. The Alpine A108 was a light-weight glass-fibre bodied, rear-engined two-door coupé produced for a young competition-oriented Dieppe based Renault dealer called Jean Rédélé. The car replaced the Alpine A106 and was based on mechanical components from the Renault Dauphine. History The 108 was launched at the Paris Motor Show in autumn 1957, but production volumes were low and the company’s principal offering continued to be the older 106 model until 1960. The Lancia Aurelia is a car produced by Italian manufacturer Lancia from 1950 to the summer of 1958. It is noted for using one of the first series-production V6 engines. It was an all-new unibody replacement for the Fiat 1100 E, which descended from the pre-war, body-on-frame Fiat 508 C Balilla 1100. The 508 Balilla was a compact car designed and developed by Fiat in 1932. It was, effectively, the replacement of the Fiat 509, although production of the earlier model had ceased back in 1929. It had a three-speed transmission (increased to four in 1934), seated four, and had a top speed of about . It sold for 10,800 lire (or 8,300 2005 euro). About 113,000 were produced.
