The cantons of France are territorial subdivisions of the France, French Republic's Departments of France, departments and Arrondissements of France, arrondissements. Apart from their role as organizational units in relation to certain aspects of the administration of public services and justice, the chief purpose of the cantons today is to serve as Constituency, constituencies for the election of members of the representative assemblies established in each of France's territorial departments (Departmental council (France), departmental councils, formerly general councils). Valbonne (; oc, Vauboa) is a commune near Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. Le Bar-sur-Loup (, literally ''Le Bar on Loup (river), Loup''; oc, So Barn; it, Albarno) is a Communes of France, commune in the Alpes-Maritimes Departments of France, department in southeastern France. Originally known simply as Le Bar, the commune was renamed Le Bar-sur-Loup by a decree dated 27 March 1961 published in the ''Journal Officiel de la République Française, Journal Officiel'' on 1 April, with effect from 2 April 1961. Its inhabitants are known as ''aubarnais'' - ''aubarnenc'' in Occitan language, Occitan - or simply ''barois''. Châteauneuf-Grasse
Châteauneuf-Grasse (; oc, Castèunòu de Grassa), alternatively known as names are Châteauneuf de Grasse or simply Châteauneuf, is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Châteauneuf is situated on the French Riviera, just over 4 km from Grasse and from Cannes and borders the villages of Plascassier and Opio. Cipières
Cipières (; oc, Cipieras) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Cipieres is about 50 minutes drive from the French Riviera, and is an unspoilt medieval village of around 500 inhabitants. There are two restaurants, a pizzeria and a general store. Sheep are farmed on the surrounding mountain side and a farm sells lamb direct and also makes a renowned goats cheese. There is an annual free rock festival (Ciprock) as well as a homemade kart race through the narrow streets, attracting children as well as some more serious adults. It enjoys a beautiful climate and has far reaching views across the valley of the wolf to the peak of Mount Cheiron, with the village of Greolieres in the foreground. Gourdon, Alpes-Maritimes
Gourdon (; oc, Gordon) is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. Gourdon offers panoramic views. History and geography In the distant past, this isolated rock was used as a place of refuge and defence. Gourdon, as it appears to us today, gives a good example of a Feudal village. It is built on a peak with impressive slopes down to the river Loup. There is only one entrance, from which you can access the main street. In former times, it was defended by a simple and harmonious Roman gate, that had been demolished at the beginning of the 20th century. Thick, high ramparts close off the North side, which is the only point from which the village can be approached. Population Tourism The castle is one of Gourdon's most important features.
