Caio Bonfim
Caio Oliveira de Sena Bonfim (born 19 March 1991) is a Brazilian racewalker. In the 20 km walk, he was a bronze medalist at the 2017 World Championships and finished 4th at the 2016 Olympic Games. His mother, Gianetti Bonfim, was also an international racewalker for Brazil. He competed in the 20 km walk at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he placed 39th. At the 2015 Pan American Games, he won a bronze medal in the Men's 20 kilometres walk with a time of 1:24:43. At the 2015 IAAF World Championships, he finished 6th with a time of 1:20:44. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Bonfim competed well. In the Men's 20 kilometres walk, he finished 4th with a time of 1:19:42, a Brazilian record, just 5 seconds behind the bronze medalist. In the Men's 50 kilometres walk, he finished 9th, again breaking the Brazilian record with a time of 3:47:02. The men's 50 kilometres race walk at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was held on 19 August. Matej Tóth, winner of the 2015 World Championships from Slovakia won the gold medal, reigning Olympic champion Jared Tallent from Australia finished second and Japanese walker Hirooki Arai took the bronze. The winning time was 3:40:58. Canadian Evan Dunfee was awarded the bronze medal after Athletics Canada successfully filed a protest because Arai had made contact with Dunfee in the last 2 km of race, but the Japanese committee appealed the decision, and the medal was reinstated for Arai. The 2015 IAAF World Championships ( zh, 第十五届世界田径锦标赛), the fifteenth edition of the IAAF World Championships, were held from 22 to 30 August at the National Stadium in Beijing, China. Forty-three nations won medals, 144 of which were awarded. Kenya topped the medal table for the first time, with 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals.
