Cagayan Valley Rising Suns
The Cagayan Rising Suns were a basketball team owned by the family of Alvaro Antonio, governor of the Province of Cagayan from 2007 to 2016. The team was managed by daughter Criselda Antonio (incumbent mayor of Alcala, Cagayan) and coached by her husband, Alvin Pua. The team debuted in 2012 PBA D-League Foundation Cup, finishing with a disappointing 0–9 record. There were many added to their roster including Letran center Raymond Almazan and former FEU stalwart Chris Exciminiano, who still led in rebounding and scoring, respectively. Then, They had a good 2-0 start but lost to Erase XFoliant Erasers, 78–91. On May 17, 2015, the team announced it will leave the PBA D-League after the 2015 Foundation Cup, following the lifetime ban imposed on coach Alvin Pua. PBA D-League
The PBA Developmental League, or PBA D-League, is the Philippine Basketball Association's official minor league basketball organization. History The PBA D-League was conceptualized after the collapse of the proposed merger between the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) and Liga Pilipinas after the staging of the ''Tournament of the Philippines'' which was composed by PBL and Liga Pilipinas teams. PBA Commissioner Chito Salud proposed the formation of a PBA D-League, which will fill the void left by the PBL. On January 25, 2011, the PBA Board of Governors approved the proposal. The maiden tournament, named " Foundation Cup" began on March 12, 2011 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan. Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League
Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League (also known as PCBL) was a commercial amateur basketball tournament based in the Philippines that catered to the development and grassroots program for future Filipino basketball players, inspired from the MICAA and the Philippine Basketball League (PBL). The league was established by nine commercial teams, some of which have played in the PBA D-League. The PCBL does not intend to compete with the existing semi-professional leagues that focuses on the development in Philippine basketball, including Filsports Basketball Association (FBA), PBA D-League and planned Countrywide Basketball League (CWBL). Alcala, officially the Municipality of Alcala, is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Cagayan, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 41,295 people. The 2011–12 PBA season was the 37th season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The season was formally opened on October 2, 2011 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, and finished on August 5, 2012. The season used three-conference format, starting with the Philippine Cup, or the traditional All-Filipino Conference. The mid season Commissioner's Cup featured unlimited height limit for imports. The Governors' Cup became the third and final conference for this season. The NorthPort Batang Pier is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team that first played in the 2012–13 PBA season. The team took over the franchise of the Powerade Tigers in 2012 after it was sold to Sultan 900 Capital, Inc.
