COGAM
Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals Collective Organization ( es, Colectivo de Lesbianas, Gays, Transexuales y Bisexuales de Madrid), COGAM is a Spanish Non-governmental organization, non-governmental association stated as a public utility and non-profit organization in Boletín Oficial del Estado which works actively for the rights of lesbians, gays, transsexuals and bisexuals. It is located in the surroundings of Chueca quarter in Madrid. COGAM worked for the same-sex marriage in Spain, the Spanish gender identity law, and the organization of the Madrid Gay Parade (as well the Europride 2007) and World Pride 2017 History COGAM was born in Madrid as a result of ''Coordinadora de Frentes de Liberación Homosexual del Estado Españols meeting (COFLHEE). Carmen García De Merlo
Carmen García de Merlo (born March 27, 1962) is a Spaniards, Spanish lawyer, nurse and civil servant of Madrid City Council. In 2018, she became President of COGAM Lesbian, Gay, Transsexual and Bisexual Collective of Madrid, being the first transgender woman to preside over the organization. Biography García de Merlo, a woman, Transsexual, trans and bisexual, was born in La Mancha town of Valdepeñas, in 1962. She graduated in Law from the National Distance Education University (UNED) and has a Diploma in Nursing from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), as well as a Senior Technician in Occupational Health and Safety from the Carlos III University of Madrid. Pedro Zerolo
Pedro González Zerolo (20 July 1960, Caracas – 9 June 2015, Madrid) was a Spain, Spanish-Venezuela, Venezuelan lawyer, politician and a town councillor of the city of Madrid, and a member of the Federal Executive Committee of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, PSOE where he held the position of Secretary for Social Movements and Relations with NGOs. He was also a trustee of the Fundacion IDEAS, Spain's Socialist Party's think tank. Zerolo was also one of the most important LGBT social movements, LGBT activists in Spanish history and one of the biggest promoters of extending the right to Same-sex marriage in Spain, marriage and LGBT adoption, adoption to homosexual couples in the country. LGBT Rights In Spain
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in Spain have undergone several significant changes over the last decades to become some of the most advanced in the world. As of the 2020s, Spain is considered one of the most culturally liberal and LGBT-friendly countries in the world. Among ancient Romans in Spain, sexual interaction between men was viewed as commonplace and marriages between men occurred during the early Roman Empire, but a law against homosexuality was promulgated by Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans, and Roman moral norms underwent significant changes leading up to the 4th century. Laws against sodomy were later established during the legislative period.
