CJLI (''AM 700 The Light'') is a Canadian radio station, that broadcasts a christian format at 700 kHz/ AM in Calgary, Alberta. The station is licensed to broadcast at 50,000 watts during the day and 20,000 watts at night, with additional restrictions to protect Class A clear-channel stations WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio and KBYR in Anchorage, Alaska. Owned by Touch Canada Broadcasting, the station received CRTC approval on April 24, 2009. The station planned to broadcast from a transmitter site from the Black Diamond area southwest of Calgary, but was unable to secure a site, due to local opposition. CJCA
CJCA is a Canadian radio station. It operates at 930 AM branded as ''AM930 The Light'' in Edmonton, Alberta. History It was first licensed in 1922, and it first broadcast on May 1, 1922, becoming Alberta's first radio station. It was an affiliate of the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission from 1933 to 1936 when it affiliated with the newly formed Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It was affiliated to CBC Radio's main Trans-Canada Network until 1962. CJCA was originally owned and operated by the ''Edmonton Journal'', and was later purchased by Selkirk Communications. As of 1994, it broadcasts entirely Christian programming. During the 1960s CJCA was one of two major pop and rock stations in Edmonton (the other being CHED). The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization which documents the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television. Since 1995, the organization has distributed its collection via an internet website. Black Diamond, Alberta
Black Diamond is a town in the Calgary Region of Alberta, Canada within Foothills County. It is located at the intersection of Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail) and Highway 7. Its first post office opened in 1907. Black Diamond was so named because of coal deposits near the original town site. It is a sister town to Turner Valley. It has a hospital, shops, hotels and residences, elementary school (K-6th grade), high school (7th-12th grade), hockey rink and a Boys and Girls Club. Little oil or gas remains. KBYR (700 AM) is an American commercial radio station programming talk in Anchorage, Alaska. 700 AM is a North American clear-channel frequency. WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio is also a Class A station on this frequency. History Longtime Alaskan broadcaster Dick Lobdell identified KBYR as the source of the famous Alaskan blooper presented on Kermit Schaefer's blooper albums of an announcer declaring that he would be "taking a leak out the window" to determine how cold it was.
