African Rally Championship
The African Rally Championship (ARC) is an international automobile rally championship run under the auspicies of the FIA. The championship was first held in 1981 and won by Shekhar Mehta. The most successful driver in the championship's history is Zambian driver Satwant Singh with eight championships. The reigning champion is Kenyan driver Manvir Baryan. The championship has been held widely across the African continent, including the island of Madagascar, although few events are held in or north of the Sahara. The championship has frequently incorporated World Rally Championship events, particularly Africa's two most popular rallies, the Safari Rally in Kenya and the Ivory Coast Rally in Côte d'Ivoire. Group N
In relation to international motorsport governed by the FIA, Group N refers to regulations providing 'standard' large scale series production vehicles for competition. They are limited in terms of modifications permitted to the standard specification by the manufacturer making them a cost effective method of production vehicle motorsport. Often referred to as the "showroom class", Group N contrasts with Group A which has greater freedom to modify and tune the cars to be more suitable to racing. Both Groups may have the same or similar models homologated by a manufacturer. Group N was introduced by the FIA in 1982 to replace the outgoing Group 1 as "''standard touring cars''". At this time there weren't specific formula for production racing cars in competition. Rally South Africa
The York Rally South Africa, is an international rally racing event organised by the South African Motorsport Club based in the Mpumalanga Province in South Africa. The event is a round of the African Rally Championship and the South African Rally Championship. The event was first ran in 1992 as a round of the South African championship with local drivers dominating the event's history. The event turned international in 2011 upon South Africa's re-entry to the African Rally Championship. Multiple South African champion Jan Habig is the most successful driver in the rally's history with six wins over an eight-year period from 1999 to 2006, all in Volkswagen Polos. David Horsey (born 1951) is an American editorial cartoonist and commentator. His cartoons appeared in the ''Seattle Post-Intelligencer'' from 1979 until December 2011 and in the ''Los Angeles Times'' since that time. His cartoons are syndicated to newspapers nationwide by Tribune Content Agency. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1999 and 2003. Walter Röhrl (; born 7 March 1947) is a German rally and auto racing driver, with victories for Fiat, Opel, Lancia and Audi as well as Porsche, Ford and BMW. Röhrl has scored 14 victories over his career, with his notable achievements including winning the World Rally Championship twice: in 1980 in a Fiat Abarth and in 1982 while driving for Opel. He has also competed in other forms of motorsport, such as endurance racing, winning in the GTP +3.0 class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1981 with the Porsche System team.
