2022 Armenian Protests
The 2022 Armenian protests (also known as the Resistance Movement; hy, Դիմադրության շարժում, translit=Dimadrut’yan sharzhum) were a series of anti-government protests in Armenia that started on 5 April 2022. The protests continued into June 2022, and many protesters were detained by police in Yerevan. Protestors demanded Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan resign over his handling of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war. On 14 June 2022, the opposition announced their decision to terminate daily demonstrations aimed at toppling Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan after failing to achieve popular support. Background The 2020–2021 Armenian protests resulted in snap parliamentary elections being held on 20 June 2021. Following the election, Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party won a supermajority in parliament and Pashinyan retained his position as Prime Minister. Razmik Davoyan
Razmik Davoyan ( hy, Ռազմիկ Դավոյան; 3 July 1940 – 11 January 2022) was an Armenian poet. Life and career Davoyan was born in Mets Parni, Spitak rayon, Armenian SSR on 3 July 1940. He studied philology and history at Armenian State Pedagogical University. He published a number of poetry collections (''My world'', 1963; ''Massacre of the Crosses'', 1972; ''The sad elephant'', 1978). His poem "Requiem" (1969) is dedicated to the darkest pages of the history of the Armenian people. Davoyan's famous poems include "Unwrap your skin", "The spider", and "After Narekatsi". Davoyan's works were subject to censorship by Soviet authorities. ''Requiem'', ''Massacre of the Crosses'', and ''Toros Rosslin'' were blocked from publication for a number of years, the latter two eventually being published outside of Armenia. EU Planning Assistance Team In Armenia
The European Union Planning Assistance Team in Armenia was a European Union initiative established to assess the potential of deploying a long-term civilian CSDP mission to Armenia. It replaced the European Union Monitoring Capacity to Armenia, which concluded its mandate on 19 December 2022 and was superseded by a longer term mission, the European Union Mission in Armenia on 23 January 2023. The blockade of the Nagorno-Karabakh was an event in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The region was disputed between Azerbaijan and the breakaway Republic of Artsakh, internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan, which has an ethnic Armenian population and was supported by neighbouring Armenia, until the dissolution of Republic of Artsakh on 28 September 2023.
