2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series was the ninth edition of the global circuit for women's national rugby sevens teams, organised by World Rugby. The ninth edition was meant to be played a year earlier, but the 2021 Series was cancelled due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Australia won the series at the second-last event in Canada, winning four out of the six events on the tour to claim their third World Series title. France, Fiji and Ireland placed second, third and fourth, respectively, which was the best finish achieved by all three teams in the World Series. The 2021–22 series was affected by ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, with two of the eleven core teams not able to compete in all six events as a result. The United Arab Emirates Rugby Federation, or UAE Rugby, is the sports governing body, governing body for rugby union in United Arab Emirates. England Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The English women's national rugby sevens team has competed in the Hong Kong Women's Sevens tournaments since 1997. England are also one of six teams announced by the International Rugby Board as "core teams" that will compete in all four rounds of the inaugural IRB Women's Sevens World Series in 2012–13. England won the bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. At the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens they lost to Ireland in the opening game of the tournament and were knocked out of the Championship Cup. 2022 Spain Women's Sevens
The 2022 Spain Women's Sevens was played as two back-to-back rugby sevens tournaments on consecutive weekends in late January that year. These events were hosted by the Spanish Rugby Federation as the third and fourth stops on the 2021–22 season of the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. It was the first time the series was held in Spain. The United States won the first tournament, held at Estadio Ciudad in Málaga from 21–23 January, defeating Russia in the final by 35–10. 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens
The 2021 Dubai Women's Sevens was held as two rugby sevens tournaments on consecutive weekends in late November and early December that year. They were played as the tenth international season of the Dubai Women's Sevens, following the cancellation of the 2020 tournament due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournaments were the opening events of the 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. Due to ongoing impacts of the pandemic, the first event was played behind closed doors on 26–27 November 2021 with no spectators allowed, but the second event was played in front of full crowds on 3–4 December at The Sevens stadium in Dubai. Two pitches were used in Dubai, which allowed matches in overlapping time slots to be played. As only ten women's teams instead of the usual twelve competed in both tournaments, a format based on two pools with five teams in each was used. 2019 Hong Kong Women's Sevens
The 2019 Hong Kong Women's Sevens acts as a qualifier for the 2019–20 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. The tournament was played on 4 April 2019 with pool stage matches played at So Kon Po Recreation Ground with knock-out stage matches played at the Hong Kong Stadium in Hong Kong alongside the 2019 Hong Kong Sevens for men. Continental qualifying Teams will qualify for the World Series Qualifier tournament based on continental championships. The top teams from each continent that are not already core teams will qualify. Format 12 teams, split into three groups of four. The group winners, runners up and the two best third ranked teams will enter the knockout stage.
