The United Arab Emirates Rugby Federation, or UAE Rugby, is the sports governing body, governing body for rugby union in United Arab Emirates. It organises and oversees local rugby, including the annual Dubai Sevens and Dubai Women's Sevens. It became affiliated to World Rugby (then known as IRB) and Asia Rugby in 2012 as a full status member. History Prior to the establishment of a national governing body for UAE, rugby across the Arabian Peninsula was administered by the Arabian Gulf Rugby Football Union (AGRFU) which had been founded in 1974 and oversaw rugby until the end of 2010 in 6 member countries: UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. World Rugby's governance restructuring project for the West Asia region resulted in AGRFU being broken up into separate unions for each member country. Asia Rugby, formerly the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU), is the governing body of rugby union in Asia under the authority of World Rugby. Founded in 1968 by eight charter nations, the Union today has 36 member unions in countries across Asia, stretching from Kazakhstan to Guam. United Arab Emirates National Rugby Union Team
The United Arab Emirates national rugby union team competes in the annual Asia Rugby competitions. They were once part of the Arabian Gulf team which consisted of players from the Gulf Cooperation Countries on the Arabian Peninsula. In 2011 they were granted membership into the Asian Rugby Football Union and following a successful bid, were granted full membership with World Rugby. They are the newest and 100th member to do so. GymNation is a chain of fitness centers based in Dubai. History GymNation was established by Loren Holland, Frank Afeaki and Ant Martland in 2018. The first GymNation gym opened in June 2018 in Al Quoz, Dubai.
