2019 Sudirman Cup
The 2019 Sudirman Cup (officially known as the 2019 Total BWF Sudirman Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 16th edition of the Sudirman Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the mixed national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF), since its inception in 1989. The tournament was played in Nanning, China, between 19 and 26 May 2019. Korea is the defending champion. China defeated Japan 3–0 in the final to win the tournament. Host city selection Nanning was the only bidder for this event. The bid was approved by Badminton World Federation on 18 March 2017 during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur. The city itself won the internal bidding phase by the Chinese Badminton Association, being the preferred city over Nanjing (later chosen to host 2018 BWF World Championships), Qingdao, and Wuhan. Sawan Serasinghe
Sawan Serasinghe (born 21 February 1994) is a former badminton player from Australia. He won seven Oceania Championships titles, five in the men's doubles and two in the mixed doubles. Serasinghe competed in the men's doubles event at the 2016 Summer Olympics alongside Matthew Chau. Career Serasinghe started playing badminton since the age of five, he was born in Galle, Sri Lanka, and moved to Australia when he was 11-years-old. He trains at the National Training Centre in Melbourne, and took out back-to-back Oceania Championships titles with Chau in 2015 and 2016. The 22-year-old also won the 2014 Sydney International Challenge mixed doubles with Setyana Mapasa, against some of the best players in the world. Hannan District
Hannan District () is one of 13 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province, China. It is the least-populous of Wuhan's districts, and is situated on the northern (left) bank of the Yangtze River. Koceila Julien Mammeri (born 23 February 1999) is a French-Algerian badminton player who trained at the Oullins club in France. In the junior event, he was the third place at the Portugal International tournament in the boys' doubles event. He won gold medals at the 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 African Championships for men's doubles with his partner Youcef Sabri Medel, and in 2018 and 2019 for mixed doubles with Linda Mazri, and also in 2021 and 2022 for mixed doubles with Tanina Mammeri.
