2007 Superbike World Championship Season
The 2007 Superbike World Championship was the twentieth FIM Superbike World Championship season. The season started on 24 February at Losail and finished on 7 October at Magny-Cours after 13 rounds. The main title contenders were 2004 champion James Toseland on a Honda, 2006 champion Troy Bayliss on a Ducati, former MotoGP rider Max Biaggi on a Suzuki, and Noriyuki Haga on a Yamaha. Bayliss spent the season riding a Ducati 999, even though production of the 999 had ended in 2006 and the bike had been replaced by the Ducati 1098. To satisfy homologation requirements, Ducati produced 150 limited edition 999 models. The championship was won by James Toseland in the final race of the season. Toseland's 415 points gave him a 2-point margin over Haga, with Biaggi in third position with 397 points. The manufacturers' championship was won by Yamaha. 2007 Supersport World Championship
The 2007 Supersport World Championship was the ninth Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Supersport World Championship season—the eleventh taking into account the two held under the name of Supersport World Series. The season started on 24 February at Losail International Circuit, Losail and finished on 7 October at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, Magny-Cours after 13 rounds. Kenan Sofuoğlu won the riders' championship with a record 8 wins. Honda won the manufacturers' championship. 2007 Donington Park Superbike World Championship Round
The 2007 Donington Park Superbike World Championship round was the third round of the 2007 Superbike World Championship. It took place on the weekend of 30 March–1 April 2007. The round at Donington marked World Superbike's 20th anniversary with the first ever meeting being held at the Derbyshire circuit on 3 April 1988. For the 2007 season, World Superbike returned to Donington Park for the first time since 2001. Donington Park
Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival. Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was created as a racing circuit during the period between the First and Second World Wars when the German Silver Arrows were battling for the European Championship. Used as a military vehicle storage depot during the Second World War, it fell into disrepair until bought by local construction entrepreneur Tom Wheatcroft. The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is a motor racing circuit located near Ventnor, on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. The current circuit was first used in 1956. History Road circuit Motor racing on Phillip Island began in 1928 with the running of the 100 Miles Road Race, an event which has since become known as the first Australian Grand Prix. It utilised a high speed rectangle of local closed-off public roads with four similar right hand corners.
