Bærum RK
Bærum Roklubb is a sports club from Bærum, Norway. Established in 1917, its only sport is sport rowing. It is based at Kalvøya outside Sandvika, and has shared the current locality with the canoeing club Bærum KK since 1972. Bærum RK originally had its own house at Kalvøya, but this was moved to Kadettangen in 1925, and sold in 1936 due to financial problems. Between 1936 and 1972 the rowing club used a house constructed on the tiny islet Danmark. In 1972 the new clubhouse on Kalvøya was finished and both Bærum rowing club and Bærum KK moved into the new clubhouse. The house was burned to the ground during a fire in 1996, but a new club house was opened in May 2000. Well-known members include Ole Nafstad, Svein Nielsen and Vetle Vinje. It was founded by physician Peter Torgersen, who was a leading proponent of "useful sports", the notion that sports practice should come in useful on other fields in life. Kjørbo Regattaen 2010
Kjørbo is a former manor in Bærum, Norway. It is located slightly south of the city of Sandvika, near the outlet of the river Sandvikselva, at the opposite shore of Kadettangen. Originally a home farm under Nesøya manor, in 1630 it was made into a manor of its own and resident site of Nesøygodset. After a long series of private owners, the whole property was sold to Norconsult-gruppen, a group of consulting firms operating in the international market which established its Norwegian headquarters on the venerable grounds. The futuristic offices premises were built for Norconsult-gruppen and Norconsult International and inaugurated in 1981. Rowing Boat
Rowing is the act of propelling a human-powered watercraft using the sweeping motions of oars to displace water and generate reactional propulsion. Rowing is functionally similar to paddling, but rowing requires oars to be mechanically attached to the boat, and the rower drives the oar like a lever, exerting force in the ''same'' direction as the boat's travel; while paddles are completely hand-held and have no attachment to the boat, and are driven like a cantilever, exerting force ''opposite'' to the intended direction of the boat. Ole Sverre Nafstad (born 20 February 1946 in Bærum, Akershus) is a Norwegian competition rower and Olympic medalist. Nafstad competed at the 1971 European Rowing Championships and won a silver medal with the coxless four. He competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich in the coxless four and the team was eliminated in the round one repêchage. At the 1973 European Rowing Championships in Moscow, he competed in the coxless pair and they won bronze. He received a silver medal in coxless four at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, together with Finn Tveter, Rolf Andreassen, and Arne Bergodd. Bærum () is a municipality in the Greater Oslo Region in Norway that forms an affluent suburb of Oslo on the west coast of the city. Kadettangen
Kadettangen is a small peninsula outside of Sandvika in Bærum, Norway. Originally named Sandvikstangen, it got its current name from the cadet training conducted by the Norwegian Military Academy for the better part of the nineteenth century. The peninsula is now used mainly for boating, beach life and sports, being the home ground of association football club Bærum SK.
