Brighton Rockers Roller Derby (BRRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in Brighton in East Sussex, England. Founded in 2010, the league consists of three teams, which compete against teams from other leagues. Brighton Rockers is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), and the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association. League History The league formed in 2010 in the Lion and Lobster pub at a meeting including founder member Elli Ades (derby name Hairy Fairy), and The Mighty Mighty Bash, who came from London Rockin' Rollers. Brighton was accepted as a member of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) in March 2012, though the league suffered a setback in July, when its kit was stolen from a member's car. In 2013 it played in the first UKRDA Southern tournament, "Roller Rumble", in which it finished in fourth place after a narrow loss to Bristol Roller Derby. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. The Seaside Siren Roller Girls (SSRG) was a roller derby league based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, in England. Founded in 2009, the league consists of two teams, which compete against teams from other leagues. Seaside is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). History The league was founded in November 2009 by six skaters who had formerly skated with another league, but wanted to play closer to their home town. The league began practising on Canvey Island, and had fourteen skaters by early 2010. It played its first bout in April 2011, when it faced the Norfolk Brawds. In June 2012, the Seaside Sirens were accepted as a member of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association, while in October 2013, they were accepted as a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Programme. Royal Windsor Roller Derby (RWRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in Berkshire, England. Founded in 2007 as Royal Windsor Roller Girls, RWRD was Berkshire's first roller derby league, and one of the first in the UK. The league trains in Ascot, Berkshire, Ascot and plays its home games at Windsor Leisure Centre. The Five Nations Roller Derby Championships is an annual competition for roller derby leagues in the United Kingdom. The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. WFTDA Apprentice Program
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice is the program affiliate of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). In operation from 2009 until early 2019, the Apprentice Program served to onboard new member leagues into the WFTDA. In February 2019, the WFTDA announced it was retiring the program, to be replaced with a new "New Member Program" in the near future.
